[QUOTE=Loosheesh;3627538]These are always free, I think.
Free since May 21, 2013 in one case. I thought the always free books were listed every three months |

I posted a list two years ago here. Crossway no longer has the ESV or ESV Study Bible available directly from its site, but they're still free at ebook sellers. The free PDF of the Geneva Bible is also gone. The other links still work. I've noticed that some of the bookstores have made it a bit harder to search for free books, so I've included some ISBNs. If you want to use a bookstore that I haven't linked, copy-pasting the ISBN in the search bar will usually find the book. ESV Classic Reference Edition (ISBN 9781433521539): eBooks.com Amazon ESV Global Study Bible (ISBN 9781433539428): eBooks.com Amazon Here are a few others that I'm pretty sure I posted sometime in the past, but it's certainly been more than three months: HCSB: Navigating the Horizons in Bible Translations (ISBN 9781433614767): eBooks.com Amazon This is a book about Bible translation in general and why B&H thinks that its HCSB translation is the best. Holy Bible New Life Version, New Testament (ISBN 9781634090087): Kobo The Biblical Archaeology Society (publisher of Biblical Archaeology Review magazine) has some PDF ebooks available on their website if you sign up for their email list. Most, though interesting, are just collections of past articles exported from a Word document. One of them, though, Frank Moore Cross: Conversations with a Bible Scholar by Herschel Shanks, is a real published book. The PDF is available here. Simon and Schuster seems to have hit upon the novel tactic of publishing public domain works in a reasonably professional ebook along with a teaser for some new S&S book that's sort of related. Most (War of the Worlds, Jane Eyre, War and Peace) don't really belong in a Christian thread, but there are a few that do. Eve's Diary by Mark Twain (ISBN 9781501137891): eBooks.com Amazon Paradise Lost by John Milton (ISBN 9781476728353): eBooks.com Amazon Amazing Facts is a Seventh-Day Adventist ministry out of Roseville, California. It's not to everyone's taste, but SDA theology is a lot closer to most conservative Christian denominations than many people realize. They have a huge number of free booklets, Bible studies, and "Storacle" prophecy studies that can be read online and most can be downloaded as PDF. Something a little more academic is Mark Goodacre's The Synoptic Problem: A Way Through the Maze, available as a PDF scan. Professor Goodacre's website has a link to the PDF at Internet Archive, along with a wealth of supplementary materials. If you're interested in the literary relationships between the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), I highly recommend this book. Finally, there's a ton of 19th and early 20th century public domain stuff available at Google Books. The epubs often leave a bit to be desired, but most of the PDF scans are readable and I routinely read them on a 7" NOOK HD. Though mostly abandoned by Google, the advanced search still works. If I'm just trolling through the stacks for something to read, I often use the main Google Books interface. Just try searching for things like "Devotional" or "Bible Commentary" and then click on "Free Google Books" on the left. If you want to read something scholarly about a particular book of the Bible, try looking through the International Critical Commentary series, which is sort of like the Anchor Bible of the late 1800s and early 1900s. To download a PDF, click on the gear icon and select "Download PDF". |

I just noticed that the Tecarta Bible app has most of its study Bibles on sale for $4.99. You can see the list in the app or at the Tecarta Bible website. Their Facebook page says it's a holiday sale that started just before Christmas, but there's no mention of when it will end.
Keep in mind that any study Bible comes with its associated Bible translation if you don't already have it. Once they're installed, you can use any translation with any set of study notes, so if a study Bible is offered in several different translations, pick the one you don't already have. For example, there are NIV, NKJV and NASB editions of the MacArthur Study Bible. If you already have the NKJV installed (or plan to buy the NKJV Study Bible), then buy either the NIV or NASB edition of MacArthur. |

Just perusing the site, it appears that you can order directly from the site, given their "add to cart" buttons for each product. But, no--if you click on one of those buttons, the site immediate brings up a webpage with the option to download the iOS version or the Android version app. It appears that you can't even _set up an account_ without doing it through the app! For some reason, I dislike apps, and prefer the old-fashioned ordering from a website. I suppose that I'm revealing my age . . . . |

What the account gets you for now is the ability to buy from any of the app stores (Google, Apple and, if it still exists, Amazon) or from any of the apps (there are several apps for purchase that have one of the premium Bibles already installed (for example the NKJV or NIV Study Bible). If you create an account and "sync licenses", then you can install any one app and download the Bibles you bought from other Tecarta apps. For example, I bought my original set of Bibles from the Amazon store using free Amazon coins. I no longer use the Amazon store, but syncing the licenses lets me download those Bibles in the app from Google Play (or Apple if I had an iPhone). If you only use a single app and only use Google Play, then Google Play keeps track of the purchases and lets you download them again if you reinstall, without needing a Tecarta account. For what it's worth, the account just requires an email address. They send you an email with a confirmation link, but after that, you only need the email address and password to login and sync. If you don't want an account right away, my suggestion is to start with the KJV app. That and the Spanish Reina Valera app are the only ones that come with a free Bible (the other free ones just have the book of John as a sample). Clear as mud? Edit: One more caveat is that the app doesn't support the Apocrypha. The NRSV and RSV are available, but you only get the Protestant canon. _Christianity and Politics_, by C.C. Peckhold. A rare Wipf and Stock freebie.
The ePub is free. The Amazon counterpart is currently $2.99, a markdown of 87% from the print list price of $23.00. The title is highly to very highly rated at Amazon and Goodreads. Here's how to get the free ePub. Navigate to https://wipfandstock.com/christianit...m_medium=email. Place ebook in shopping cart. Put "ebookfree" in the discount code box, and click on the button to apply it. Follow the remainder of the directions. If you have any trouble, post a message. I got the freebie for myself, but I couldn't adequately test the procedure, because of that, afterwards. |

Christianbook.com has the bundle of Warren Wiersbe's "Be" series of the writings of the apostle Paul (that's _nine_ volumes) for only 79 cents! That's less than 9 cents _per book_. I've always been glad to find a _single_ volume for 79 or 99 cents!
This is one of their daily deals for today. The deal will be gone around midnight Eastern Time tonight. Here's the direct web address for the deal: https://www.christianbook.com/bundle...661/pd/81487EB. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 01-11-2018 at 09:36 AM. |

^ Thanks! I was missing 2 of the 27 New Testament books in the series, so went ahead and bought them. Although now I see that their lame proprietary app is the only way to access your purchases?

They use Adobe Digital Editions DRM, so you can download an epub file and view it in any application/device that supports ADE.

If you paid any nonzero amount for the ebook and haven't hit the maximum number of downloads, you should see a download link. Free books say "This free eBook is not presently available for download. It can be read anytime in the CBDReader (iOS and Android Apps or thru your browser)." The maximum number of downloads isn't disclosed anywhere, but it appears to be selectable by the publisher. Most are three or five, but Rose Publishing has the max set to a single download. You can't tell what it is until you've hit it. |
