Strictly speaking, it's a triple flash refresh. Turn every pixel white, black, white. Funny in a way that I no longer really notice it. I guess the comment that you can get used to almost anything is correct.

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. Mine did the refresh to show the homescreen, and then refreshed again throwing all the tiles off and putting them back... oh well, it stopped doing that after signing out (and automagically signing back in).

Something I have difficulties to figure is why my home screen is full with books I have finished. I have loaded my sd card with a bunch of books and at first my home screen was full of those books. I'm in book # 16 in a series and now, my home screen is full of the books I've read. What is the need to put them there ? I won't read them any soon again won't I ? I could understand that the books I haven't already read could show on the home screen, but the books I have finished ? I just can't understand the logic behind that.

Personally, I like the finished books appearing. I can mark them off in calibre when I am at home. But, you can dismiss any tile except the Sync tile with a long press. This displays a menu, one option is to dismiss the tile.

If you are a calibre user, you can use my Kobo Utilities plugin to install a database trigger that will prevent tiles that you don't want to appear on the home screen from appearing.

What I'd really like is for that long press to also display a Delete option for a finished book. Instead I have to go searching around in the library to delete it.

Yes, the menu should display all the menu items for the book as well as the dismiss item.

I use the kobo Utilities plugin for marking the books.

My sync tile just disappeared on it's own one day.

I use Calibre and I don't think I can thank you as much as you deserve it for that. I have the Kobo Utilities (at least I think I have it at least on my Ubuntu running computer, but not sure on the windows running computer) but as I don't know how to use it to do that... so I keep on dismissing tile after tile... (and not powering off my Glo because of the bugs that follow) but I find it rather tiresome...

One the menu for the plugin, select "Dismiss tiles from new home screen". This displays a dialog with options for each tile type. Select the ones that you want to get rid of. Pressing the "OK" button at this point will get rid of these tiles. If you want to prevent them from coming back, select the "Change database trigger" option and "Create or change trigger" before pressing OK.

So have you figured out a way for us to actually put usefule tiles on the screen and keep them

Dreaming the impossible dream again I am happy enough with the reading status stuff.

Which tiles? I can think of a way that might work. It would only work for one or two tiles at a time.

That's my favourite part of the plugin to.

That's my favourite part of the plugin to.
I rarely use the tiles, but if did and I went back to using the Aura, shelf tiles for genre collections might be useful.

Something that would be useful to me on the mini or Aura would be a way to change the default sort for all shelves. They always sort by title the first time you open a shelf. They keep whatever sort you pick, but I am accustomed to them all being the same and accidentally select a random book in a series. Not expecting you to have at er but would be nice to have.

A question. I've tried to understand but I'm not sure where to look for the answer..
Is the 2.6.1 of the Aura HD the same as the 2.8.1 for the Glo?
meaning, are there improvements on the Aura HD? Should I try to update?
from the pics I've seen it looks the same as what I have now...

I think there are several differences. For example, the top white space is removed in the latest firmware. I'm not quite sure, but I think the italic/bold bug is no longer there too.
Regarding if you need to update or not depends on whether those things matter to you.

ok thanks! I was thinking of updating because I'm not sure I'd want to go 2.9 when that comes, because of the problem in displaying the in-book reading stats for sideloaded kepubs. So, I thought, i better put on the latest one that I know doesn't have that problem, at least!
I've never had the italic issue though, and the white space doesn't bother me..
so maybe I should simply leave it as it is, seeing as it's working flawlessly since I've bought it!
