...

The current selection criteria for the carousel is obviously date related (i.e. display most recently added). Without changing the existing database structure, the carousel could be set to pin those books flagged as being on your shortlist in reverse date order i.e. oldest added first. Crude, but workable.
This actually sounds pretty awesome, it would make the carousel effectively into a reading list where you could cue books up, and then when you have finished a book, the next book on the list brings itself to the front of the carousel and then stays there till it is done. This is effectively how I use the shortlist at the moment, but without being able to put books in the order I want to read them (having the order determined by the first added would be good - actually being able to change the order of the reading list would be even better).

fonts

Interestingly enough, I upgraded from 1.9.17 to 2.0 (r41097) without any issues. Played around with the font settings, didn't like the way Delima (which I was using) was now looking and switched to Georgia.

Then I did a factory reset, and updated to 2.0 (r41166) and now the only fonts that are listed are: Amassis, Avenir, Georgia, Gill Sans, Rockwell, Gothic MB101, and Ryumin. What happened to Delima? Are there others missing and, if so, why?

why isnt everone else angry about hyphenated words at the end of most lines?

its either that only a few of us are getting this ridiculous error, or everyone else doesn't care about it... its been mentioned on this thread but no one has commented on it...

ex: "Ad nauseam is a Latin term used to describe somet-
hing unpleasurable which has continued "to [the point of] nausea". Fo-
r example, the sentence, "This topic has been discussed ad nauseam", signi-
fies that the topic in question has been discussed extensively, and that thos-
e involved in the discussion have grown tired of it."

I for one cannot read books like this, and I cannot think of another example of any writing that uses this kind of behaviour... Browers? nope... real books? nope... news papers? nope... firmware 1.9.17? nope...

Why hasn't kobo heard of word wrap? Also it doesnt matter what the justifcation is, and they looked fine on 1.9.17...

2nd question:

factory reset and loaded 1.9.17... calibre loads epubs but when ejected kobo doesnt process content and says i need to set up the kobo before adding books, but if i set it up with kobo desktop it updates to 2.0.0!!

the epubs are in the file structure of the kobo, but not showing in library...

Am I missing something?

I have chosen to have a ragged right margin and there are no hyphens.

I encountered weird hyphenations right off, and can't recall anything similar with 1.9.17. It almost seems like they dumped a genuine hyphenation dictionary (was there one?) and are relying on a really clumsy break-it-anywhere rule.

Certainly one can avoid the hyphenation problem by formatting for unjustified text--but that's a step backwards for an ereader that should be going forward in all respects.

2.0 never stayed on my Kobo long enough for me to even notice the hyphenated words so I can't comment on it. Currently refusing to upgrade until the clock reappears back to where it was.

Nope, doesn't work. Justified or not, there will be hyphenation going on...

That's why I said somewhere that I wished for a way to switch off hyphenation...

There are some fonts that are not included in the 2.0.0 release. If your factory reset version of the firmware doesn't include these fonts, they won;t be loaded on your Touch.

As to why these fonts are no longer included, I don't know.

I posted about this earlier in the thread (or another one).
