Discworld "Guards! Guards!" is all about the Night Watch and a dragon. I like those dragon stories. Nobody accidentally imprints on a dragon and is grudgingly accepted into the exalted ranks of dragon keepers.

I think I read both of these, but I don't remember the dragons

I finished Dragon Keepers. I knew it was the first book of a trilogy but I expected it to be a little more self-contained. It ends on a sort of cliff-hanger, or at least several questions. But I won't start on the second one (supposing I can get it, last time I looked it was held up by the agency thingie). To be honest, Dragon Keeper is not that good.

So now I must decide on what to start next. I bought The Guernsey Potato Peel Pie blablabla, but I might read The Machine Stops before I start on that one.

I recently read The Color of Magic. I'd quote the passages for you, but I read it on my Nook instead of the Kindle or the Touch, and there's no way to export notes on the Nook...assuming that one even wants to bother with going through all the hoops and menus one has to deal with to even make notes on a GD Nook.

No need. I believe you, I just feel embarrassed that I don't remember it

So, when you say you don't like dragons, do you actually mean that you don't like Anne McCaffrey's books? I read a couple of them and didn't find them very exciting. But what's wrong with the idea of accidentally imprinting a dragon?

I've just started "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger in pbook. I'm not sure if I "get it" yet.

Just finished GA Henty's superb Bonnie Prince Charlie last night. I really love the Henty historical fiction stuff and our very own Crutledge produces beautiful free downloads here at MR. Many thanks, Crutledge. Much appreciated. Neil

Oh yes, I remember them! But I seem to have missed most of the books where she is present. I have trouble keeping track of which Discworld books I have read and not read. I should go get the whole list at Librarything and check them off.

Lady Sybil appears in the "City Watch" sub-series - and eventually marries Sam Vimes.

So, I decided to give _Topper_ a try. It seems to be a bit slow so far... and it isn't the least bit funny to me yet. Although, I'm only a handful of chapters in so far.

Thank you! But I do think I have read most of those. Oh my, this is very confusing. Maybe I read most of them and then forgot I'm pretty sure I didn't read Monstrous Regiment though. Something to look forward to

Why BOb, I almost didn't recognize you! Where is the penguin?

Just started The Guernsey blablabla and I'm hooked already. It looks like a wonderful book, and it's (among other things) about books!
