Anyhow, keep your ereader with you and fill those otherwise wasted minutes reading. Sitting in the doctors's waiting room, during a commute, waiting for the coffee maker to finish. Those minutes add up.

And don't worry about not having a life outside of reading.

So strictly speaking, I added one book to my TBR list.

I think I bought well over 200 books in 2018 but most were super cheap or free classics and I had a few Amazon gift certificates I used to buy ebooks.

What I found odd was I read your original message but the quote was your modified message. I had to copy/paste your original message. Nothing like race conditions to keep life interesting.

Challenge only yourself. Don't compare your book numbers to others because different reading speeds, time available to read, types of books all can make the numbers very wide. It would be a different answer if you were reading fewer than 12 books a year.

January 3rd, and three books bought.

Well, two of them are my regular subscriptions. One was a book I've already read - just filling in a series while it was on special offer.

On the whole, off to a good start - there was nothing I wanted to get in the Amazon offers for January.

I had four bought and one freebie before the end of day 1. I admit the four purchases were already on sale and I was just hoping the sale would last into the new year.

Third day of the year and I've bought two books, which is getting the year off to a dreadful start, especially as I can only kinda, sorta justify my purchases. One, on a topic that interests me, is regularly $20 and now at Kindle for $1.30. The other is an author I like and while I was researching other books, came across a book of his for $1.99. Sigh. I have no real regrets on the first; I shouldn't have bought the second but shall justify it by reading it in the near term, I hope.

However. I really must stop looking. What I don't see, I can't buy.

I wish I was better at resisting a Whispersync title by an author I enjoy. I'm making up for it by reading/listening to them right away (3 part series).

Google went offered me £2 off any ebook over £2. So I spent £0.79 on the next book in a series I'm reading.

Five days, four books. And I haven't finished my first book of 2019 yet!

But at least they're all books I know about and really want. Rather than just books on offer that looked interesting.

I've got off to a very bad start. It's especially unfortunate that none of my purchases met my parameters for a justifiable buy, but were price-driven. It's the issue I've grappled with in the past, that after the first buy subsequent buys become easier. I'm now at four books on the year and that's a huge hole to dig myself out of.

Whew! I've got to shake this off and get back into the no-buy groove. It's easy once I'm in it and it's the answer for me.
