Hello, there. I'm a print-published author who writes short stories that are not always suitable for magazines for a variety of reasons - mainly that they don't fit into the current trends. I've just put one on Kindle for 99 cents under a pseudonym to see if there's any appetite for them - it's a fast-paced conspiracy thriller involving a lobbying firm that isn't what it seems, Swiss banks, neo-Nazis and terrorism, but with a dry sense of humour and some (hopefully) unusual and head-spinning twists to it. It's around 8,000 words long, and you can find it here: http://bit.ly/9qEHsi If you fancy half an hour or so's fun reading, please give it a try!

Hi, all. I just published a free short story on Smashwords. "Confluence" is a western/sci-fi that was written to use as the basis for a short comic book that will be included in an anthology. The anthology won't be out for a while, and I thought readers might enjoy the prose in the meantime. Stop by and download it if you wish. Happy reading!

I've posted the following elsewhere, but what the hell...this is the shameless thread after all
![]() There have been some great highlights since Life…With No Breaks appeared at Amazon and Smashwords last month: • Broke into Amazon Top 500 Paid in Kindle store rankings on May 22. • Sales more than tripled in May • Received six 5-star reviews from customers at Amazon • Reviews requested by respected review sites Red Adept and Compulsive Reader (reviews to hopefully be published in next couple of weeks). • A fantastic endorsement from Mark Coker, the CEO and founder of Smashwords: "Readers will consider this a scream of a book ... and that's before they know its history – that Nick wrote the whole thing in a single sitting. We’re keen on speed and efficiency here, so I’m all the more proud to have published Nick’s work." • Adding to the great endorsement from Neil Marr, Editor in Chief of BeWrite books: "This is one of those rare, rare books that make you feel like you're an equal partner in a tête-à-tête. This bloke's only writing because YOU are reading. He wouldn't have bothered otherwise. The reader is profoundly involved every line of the way. "It's a collection of anecdotes, muses, adventures, misadventures and confessions that reads as satisfyingly as a novel, and rolls along as though the whole thing was plotted (which it wasn't). It's paced, it's organised, it's witty, it's wise, it's from the hip…and it's put together with admirable word-economy by a master story-teller with much to say and only a weekend to say it in." So why not join the millions* of happy customers who've bought the book, and are reading RIGHT NOW all about how Mrs Spalding's little boy Nick: ...lost control of his bowels in public ...nearly had his wedding tackle bitten off by an angry collie dog ...helped give birth to the harbinger of an alien invasion fleet ...was nearly strangled to death by a killer bath sponge ...ruptured several internal organs trying to show off in the gym These stories (any many more) in Life…With No Breaks for $1.99 Available at Amazon and Smashwords Leave a positive review and win a trip to Hawaii!!** *Number may not be entirely accurate **Offer may not be entirely truthful…previous negotiations with Barbados sadly broke down due to inappropriate swapping of bodily fluids. |

Amazon has cut the price of my prison-set supernatural thriller The Scrubs to 99 cents.
Description: James Jeter, the notorious serial killer with a sixth sense, holds court inside London's Wormwood Scrubs Prison. He's the focus of the "North Wing Project." Under the influence of a hallucinogen, Jeter can create an alternative world known as "The Rift" containing the souls of his victims. Pardons are on offer to inmates who'll enter The Rift. Michael Keeler has nothing to lose and little to live for. He's sent into The Rift to learn the identity of Jeter's last victim. It's a mission where the guilty can be redeemed, but at a price... The book recently picked a really nice review from Red Adept. http://redadeptreviews.com/?p=2688 so I hope people will check the book out. |

Reincarnation fiction - Dead Forever: Awakening
Awakening begins the Dead Forever series, an epic tale of a long-forgotten space opera past, an immortal hero's wild adventures, and by the third book, his reincarnation on Earth. He should be one of us, if only he were blind to the untold past lives that affect the present and define his destiny. A feast for fans of past-life/reincarnation fiction. Start the journey today with Awakening.
Recent reviews... "Awakening is a professionally written and solidly edited book that I feel is well worth the price and time you’ll spend on it. Cool science concepts made believable and an interesting story line by an author who’s unafraid to have some fun while he’s writing." --Clayton Bye, reviews.thedeepening.com "Each character has a unique personality and Campbell does a great job of bringing them to life." --Charline Ratcliff, rebeccasreads.com "In the action adventure, the pace is non-stop race from being back in the hands of authority and always questioning the position and actions of the rebel group. The characters are a little odd, but extremely realistic and likable. The personal voice is the strength of the novel in that you feel as if you really live in the main hero’s body with him." --Teri Davis, reviewsbyteri.blogspot.com "Dead Forever Awakening is a fascinating science fiction adventure, highly recommended." --Midwest Book Review, midwestbookreview.com Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034G6628/ Smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/8981 Coming June 14, 2010, book two of the Dead Forever series... DEAD FOREVER: APOTHEOSIS A god? No thanks, too much responsibility. Sequel to Awakening, the adventure continues as our hero travels to the Restricted Zone, aided by a mysterious provider of instructions. But mistakes mount and the mission falls apart. Plunged into an alien world at war, the hero is caught between battling natives who either worship him as a god, or another heretic scheduled to burn alive. The hero struggles to bring peace among chaos but his nemesis has arrived, and he likes playing god, poised to launch unthinkable wrath that fulfills a world-ending prophecy. The natives are confident their savior will prevail. Trouble brews back home--the rebels are under siege, two planets ruined, and the body supply is depleted. More of all the hero is expected to fix, while he only longs to be a child again, the one dream denied him for lifetimes. He hatches a daring plot to outsmart the enemy but in doing so risks his own life--in the last body to enjoy as a free soul. A single choice could spell his end, for real this time. Dead forever. “Only the gods be so great as to wield the power of destruction yet escape its fate. The mortal be bound by destiny he cannot escape, however heroic.” |

As long as we're posting rankings, my novel IDENTITY CRISIS has reached #12 in the hardboiled mystery category in the Kindle Store and #15 in hardboiled mysteries on Amazon.
I'm going to be releasing a short story collection called FIVE UNEASY PIECES. It will include an excerpt of my sequel to IDENTITY CRISIS. I hope to have it up on Kindle and Smashwords by late June or early July. Best, Debbi [In-text promotional links deleted - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 03-10-2014 at 12:40 PM. |

As soon as the latest review of Boomerang appeared on Smashwords sales ground to a halt everywhere it is available, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and, of course, Smashwords. Looks like folks are not interested in a read that the reviewer described as "One of the best novels that I have read in recent times- suspenseful, witty and racy."
I can certainly understand it. I too would keep my distance from such a book. Sounds suspicious to me. And so I urge you to Read Something Else, Anything Else. Hell, switch on the television if you must. But stay away from Boomerang. Millions of non-readers can't be wrong! Can they? |

Hey, well done DebbiM. I think I've yay'd and celebrated with everyone else on the page for their achievements elsewhere so I won't go through it all again - but it's great to spot reviews, write-ups and high sales rankings for books belonging to authors I've chatted to on various forums, including this one.
