Which makes no sense. The flash versions would necessarily HAVE to have the same OS and apps as the 'factory formatted' version. The only difference is supposed to be the actual low-level code that burns the new OS and app onto the flash memory.

Hmmm, let me see.......The fact that Bookeen is telling us for more than a year now that the new firmware is almost ready......
Or the fact that there are a set of French Guiney pigs who have a beta-version of the new firmware on their old cybook for three months already.....

But then again, those are of course just mere hints and you have to be at least a little optimistic to think they can still pull it of....

Well, if they decided some time ago that releasing any reflash firmware is too risky, and in the future to update only Cybooks they have received, they wouldn't just tell anyone, would they?

Hmmm, maybe my Gen3 shortly will be broken and I should send it in, just in case ... now, where did I put this hammer?

Yes but... You ought not *send* it in. Rather *bring* it in - and remember to take your hammer with you so you can "hammer" it home into the proper 'receptacle'. (The phrase 'where the sun don't shine' comes to mind. Yes, I'll stipulate the process might be a wee bit painful to the Bookeen employee of your choice, but I'm sure the message WILL be received and understood.)

NOT to worry. I have emailed Bookeen and expressed my *extreme* displeasure in their firmware update strategy. We should be getting the updates "any day now".

What? What about telling all customers about this?

Thanks. But I do have to ask... why did you not do this earlier? Had you commanded the release of the firmware a few months ago, then this whole thread would be over quickly.

Please don't sit on your hands so long next time!

For those not afraid to take a small loss, maybe we could have a steady eBay campaign, say two or three per week with a starting bid at 65% of the EU/US prices, or higher, just as long as we undercut the new ones sold by Bookeen. If they don't sell, we lose nothing. We could email links to Bookeen.

I *WISH*!

No, these days I'm pretty sure I have about as much "pull" with Bookeen as the crawdad sittin' in the crick near where a'm a-sittin'.

Well, bookeen released the source code for 2.0 firmware. Hopefully, than means the 2.0 firmware is now fully done.

Darn, they got you again! Take a look at a calendar. There's a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and so on. But I simply can't find an "any day". Is this placed before the first and second Tuesday next week?

That's like these programs that tell you to "press any key to continue", and there IS no "Any" key on my keyboard, right?

BeBook next?

After looking at BeBook's changelog, I'm fairly close to selling up:

http://mybebook.com/a11/Downloads/article_info.html

They've had both epub DRM and Mobi DRM firmwares since February, and multiple epub fixes since then as well as the BeBook Mini product launch. They must have more hamsters than Bookeen.
