Hi:

Hi:

I upgraded my Smart Q7 to the latest firmware 4.0 but when reading the screen disappears goes blank in about 5 seconds. I'm sure this is to make the battery run longer but is really annoying when reading. Does anyone know how to set this option off? I have looked everywhere but haven't find the place to set this. Thanks.

My screen seems to have finally died. Eletroworld is sending me a replacement, splitting shipping. Hopefully I won't have to pay VAT again.

It went from wonky touchscreen, to really wonky, to black on boot, intermittent display, and black on flash.

Frustrating, as I had strong hopes for this device. Maybe the new one will be better.

The upside is that Eletroworld is being excellent. Good on them!

Click the sun icon on the right top, that you can change the backlight time on the second page.

The WPA greyed out issue is being worked on and they know about it. Not sure on the ETA for the fix. I'll try to find out about the USB keyboard.

Ok.
So far the SmartQ 7 is great.
I have upgraded from a Palm, and have not lost too much in what I can do and the PLUSes outweigh the MINUSes. So I like this think a lot.

It is a bit slow loading, but not bad over all.
It is heavier, and bigger and that is both PLUS and MINUS.

My current hunt for a solution is for a stand. The flip out stand “works”, but is not ideal.

I use the SmartQ7 as a photoframe at work scrolling through pictures. I copy content I want to it, using sunriseXP. And can use FBreader to read books or webpages offline with reasonable speed.

So who has solutions for a stand that lets the device be used or be more stable then the built in stand?

A quick, easy, cheap stand could be made from a wire coathanger

I was on the SmartQ's site yesterday, and was able to download WinCE v.1 for Q7...I went back there a few hrs later and it was no longer on the site, I noticed about every 15 mins the items in the 'firmware' and 'doc' section changed so they were shifting files around. I expanded the rar and it has 2 directories /boot and /LBE. Not sure how to get it on the device yet...and to confirm exactly what I downloaded, maybe they accidenatly put the Q5 file in the Q7 location and fixed it shortly after.

Seems we are very near the time when the Q7 WinCE version for English will be released. Check this out: http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/html/s...f-smartq5.html

Looks like WinCE might be pretty fun for this device. Looking forward to trying the WinCE ebook reading software too. It will open a whole bunch of opportunties for me as far as available formats!

Mine should be here in the next week or so. I'm excited to try WinCE on it. Does anyone know of any good comic readers for WinCE?

You can buy a plate stand (used for decorative plates). They have them at craft stores such as Hobby Lobby for about 5.00 for the largest and 2.99 foir a small one.

It is just a Chinese version. You still lack of a licence file. Copy them to a sd card than power on the Q7 than you will have a mutil-start menu.

Eletroworld gave me the heads up today as well, and a Fed Ex tracking number. It looks like mine is due to be delivered on Monday or Tuesday.

Yup, same here, Fedex should have it to me Monday morning. Cannot wait to see what it's like for reading comics, you've raised my expectations, Cold Sun!
