I doubt it. Kaleido 3 doesn't use any extra power on its own; you just tend to use more power by needing more frontlight to compensate for the darkness introduced by the colour matrix. The Boox Tab devices need huge batteries to power the BSR GPU, which Kobo devices won't have.

My first thought was I don't want color eink. 99.9% of my reading is color, so I don't see a 0ersonal need for color. After seeing the pictures, the col9r h8ghlighting looks nice.

So, if there is no (noticable) loss of clarity for, b&w text, and no price difference, I may consider buying a color reader next time.

Agreed, I can and do read my novels on my Note Air 3C sometimes during lunch at work. But in the evening when at home and not reading a comic or graphic novel then I am reading on my Kindle Paperwhite SE. Is there a difference in reading text between standard eInk B/W (PWSE) and reading on the Air 3C....? Yes, I cannot pinpoint it exactly, maybe text on the color is less bold (using Kindle app on the Boox)? But there a difference. It is not something I noticed really until I looked at both with a discerning eye. But I completely agree, if you just read novels then stick with normal eInk screens and save some money.

Washed out colors are fine for this tech. To me it's not an acceptable trade-off to have worse b&w clarity and contrast, which this WILL. But I'm happy for other people to get a new toy

I’m trying to decide if the color pops better with the white Libra frame or the black one. The product shots tend to show the black Libras with backlighting, and the white Libras with none or reduced backlighting.

This photo gives the only apples to apples comparison. I may be biased, but under the same lighting, the black seems to show off the color better.

Manga, likely no, but comics yes. Also, Japanese light novels are loaded with color illustrations at the front of the book.

Though really it's very little extra software. Do a screen shot on a Kobo and you'll find it's in colour.

The 7″ seems far too small for colour when I compare it to Tintin, Asterix or my few graphic novels and fewer ancient Marvel/DC, especially since resolution is 150 dpi?
