You could try manually downloading the last official firmware update for the Mini from pgaskin's Kobo Firmware Downloads site. Download the 3.19.5761-s version for the Mini (the last officially supported version though I have used later versions on my Mini with minor issues). Connect your Mini to your computer and then copy the contents of the .zip file (KoboRoot.tgz, manifest.md5sum and the upgrade directory to the .kobo directory. Safely eject your Mini and the firmware update should start.

I cannot thank you enough for your patience, help and advice with my issue.

Finally, after following your explicit instructions, especially the last one of downloading the firmware, I am now back up and running and able to read again.

I followed all your instructions and, believe it or not, I put all the software image/firmware on the original [Sandisc] SD card that it came with and it is working fine. As I had already purchased a new 4gb SD card anyway, I just decided to copy the lot on to it as well so that I now have a backup should the same thing happen again. I can only imagine that for some reason, the original SD card somehow became corrupt.

Before I found your site, I contacted Kobo Customer Services and explained my situation. Sadly, they were as helpful as a chocolate teapot and could only offer a slight discount on a new Kobo ereader. Thankfully, I used the trusty internet and found your site which has proven to be a godsend.

hello, can somebody please send me a SD card image? my old mini not recognized by Windows, and hardware update (copy files in .kobo folder) doesn't help. Screen blinks once, and nothing happen

hello, can somebody please send me a SD card image? my old mini not recognized by Windows and Linux since I have tried to install Koreader after I re-initialised the device without success, and hardware update (copy files in .kobo folder) doesn't help. The SD card alone is recognized, so I would like to try directly with the SD image.

You will need to have Private Messages enabled before you can be sent the link. If you don't see that option in the "Edit Options" of the User control panel, you should post in the Requests to enable Private Messages thread to ask it to be enabled.
