It's more likely he'd be upset that it was an unmarried girl (and many were much slighter in size than today, so passing for a teen boy might be a bit easier); it would not be at all unusual for a mid-teen boy to be on his own at that time (or even much later in time), but not usual at all for any unmarried female (esp. under 30).

I did note in the US Census one I posted that it said "adult unmarried population" that includes age 15 and over. Although, like Karen I believe it was the fact that she was unmarried not under-aged. Women and girls were pretty much property of fathers and husbands and stayed with parents/relatives. "Morals" were still pretty much a way women were judged and not being under the "protection" of a family member or husband could pretty much "ruin" a female's reputation and chance for a "good" marriage.

Thank you, I checked this morning and it was not there. I have been waiting for this so much. I have no issue with a male narrarator. And I have heard a snippet that wetted my appetite for him. Maybe it is because I use to watch soap operas. But this really has alot in the hero's point of view. I remember that much although it has been years since I read it.


Bad news to you is that Laura handpicked him to narrate all of her books.

Welcome. I just can't listen to a guy read romance. It's makes me specially when he tries to do a girl voice or read love scenes. I bust out laughing. Most guys I tried to listen to sounded so flat and let's face it most guys don't get romance so they wont read the story right.

I also have to have a narrator who voice acts well like Lorelei King, Lauren Fortgang or Xe Sands. Yes I am picky.

Well looks like I'll just have to read her books instead of listen then. I listened to a sample and it was horrible. He sounds so monotone. Ick.

I am totally inured. My favorite author is Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have listened to Holter Graham read her books. He never makes me laugh during love scenes or girl voices.

He's suppose to sound monotone. The hero has a hearing problem. I will report if he changes during the story. I remember he could not keep his balance and fell off his horse.

I listen to a sample. He has a nice voice. Reminds me of a DJ I grew up with on the radio. I listen to Harry Potter and I like the guy who narrated it so I dont have a problem with guy narrators but for romance I don't know it's just probably where I grew up. Hearing a guy read it makes me giggle.

It did take me awhile to get use to hearing romance read aloud without blushing or feel like I was doing something naughty. lol
Not something I would play aloud. Headphones only.

Not the hero's voice but the narrator telling the story. When you tell a story you need emotion in between the dialogue. The other guy you mention has it and you can feel it coming through as he reads.

This guy sounds robotic in between dialogue. Even women narrators who read like this I can't stand.
You must change your pitch when reading or I am going to zone out....zzzzzz lol
