WRT the hyphenation of kepubs, I noticed that you can force the reader to hyphenate justified text in a kepub by simply adding this line to the top of the CSS:
Code:
* { -webkit-hyphens: auto; }
The hyphenation will be done by the Kobo software and the quality (at least in Italian) may be questionable, but at least it works...

In order for hyphenation to work correctly, the '<dc:language>' element in content.opf must be correct, i.e. the language of the epub must be set correctly.

Since the actual hypenation feature of the driver doesn't work (due to a bug in Kobo engine, I'd say), could you add an option to modify the CSS with this line instead?

well, I WAS using an older version, and when I updated the plugin I didn' unistall the older one (I was not supposed to do that, since the previous upgrades were successful, but of course I was wrong...).
So I followed what u wrote into #451 and solved the problem .

Go ahead and submit a bug asking for it. If it works without making the display look terrible it's better than what I've got

Hey Joel--I thought you were supposed to be giving your arm/wrist a rest and getting ready for that new baby! You seem pretty darn active here.

Thanks for the work, I initially hit a problem though. The OK/Cancel buttons are outside the scrollable area of the dialogue and the dialogue took up the entire height of the screen (i.e. including the part normally hidden by the Task Bar). This meant that the only way to display these two items was to hide the task bar

This was what I saw at first. I then played with the Taskbar options, changed them and then changed them back and all seemed to be o.k. I'll try it out again after a full restart of Windows and see if it stays fixed or if I need to play with the Task Bar each time I re-start Calibre.

Again many thanks for looking into this.

Sshhhh, don't tell anyone!

We're actually all ready for baby now. Neither of us can think of anything else that needs doing that we can actually do! He's allowed to come in 9 days, but he's not due till the end of August. My wrist has been doing well lately so I'm exercising it a bit more. I've been using my phone for the forums a lot, which I can use easily with the brace on or even without involving my hurt wrist at all. Sure typing is a royal pain, but it works relatively quite well. Apple did their design work well, at least up until the iPhone 4S

Do you happen to know what resolution your screen is?

Does anyone have a screen resolution of 1024x768 or lower, or use calibre on a netbook?

I think I've got the issue fixed at low resolutions. At least, it worked fine for me when I dropped my resolution to 1024x768

I got the latest updated file from Github and it certainly seems to be o.k now - I can re-size the dialogue window and use the scroll bar to get everything on screen. I've just realised I hadn't tried re-sizing the dialogue previously and noticed it appeared as different sizes depending on whether I opened it from the preferences menu or from the connected device icon.

I've realized that this statement may have seemed amusing to some people, especially those who have already had children, so in an effort to reassure everyone that I've got a totally realistic view on the situation I've come up with a few more definitely accurate statements:
  • Everything will go exactly as expected
  • Baby will arrive within 5 minutes of getting to the hospital
  • We're both going to get lots of sleep in the first few months
  • Baby is going to sleep through the night right away and not be fussy at all
  • The hospital will take pity on us and let us park our car in their lot for free

Actually, I guess it's technically possible for baby to arrive 5 minutes after arriving at the hospital...

I've noticed that when I add series information to a book, it shows up in the proper shelf, but the actual series information isn't shown on the book when I look in the shelf. If I then add another book, all of the series information for the previously loaded books shows up.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just how it works?

Thanks.

The series info only gets populated on the next sync after adding the book (if that makes sense).
  • Kobo connected
    • Initial send to Kobo
      • Book gets sent
      • Shelves get populated
  • Kobo disconnected
    • Device scans for new contents and adds to database
  • Kobo reconnected
    • Series info gets added to database
  • Kobo disconnected
