Ignorance means without knowledge. For example, I am ignorant about other tablets, therefore I don't comment on them. It's not an insult.

Of course Apple does not want you to side load content without iTunes. That makes sense for them so they have made it much more difficult than it could be. You misunderstood, but nobody ever claimed that to be the case, that I said you cannot side load. Read what people actually write, please.

What is wrong with a pointless overpriced toy may I ask?

I can surf to the Memorial Library section of this forum from my iPad, open a thread with a link to a compatible book file, touch that link, and the iPad will ask me if I want to open that file in iBooks. If I touch yes, it opens the book and adds it to my library on the iPad.

No iTunes required. How difficult was that?

Ok...You're right, for you. But I'd still stay it's not overpriced & not a toy. I use it in a productive manner as I suspect many people do, even many business. Either way I hope that I have at least shared some knowledge on its capabilities & that you may share that if someone ever asks, without bias.

Ok...I'm sorry if I misunderstood. But I hope that at least if someone asks you about it you can now give them accurate information about their options.

Too difficult for some people. They just can't grasp the concept that the iPad is easy to use. Whatever. I don't know what more to say.

Strangely enough, my husband and I were in Sears this weekend. All the sales people have been equipped with iPads (2, not 3).

When we inquired as to why we were told that the store was going to go to a single register that accepted cash per department. The rest of the sales/payments would be done by mobile sales people with iPads and fingertip scanners.

It was rather quick and seamless, no standing in line. My only concern is that they didn't put screen protectors/cases on the iPads. I'm sure they'll be a flurry of broken iPads soon enough.

The use cases for businesses keep going. Small business use I've seen often. The local food truck that come to the city use iPads for transactions if you don't have cash. Most I'm sure also use it for inventory. Hardly an overpriced toy, such claims are....well, you know.

I've seen an iPad used in lieu of a cash register at a local ice cream place since before the iPad 2 was released. There's no doubt there are plenty of use cases for the iPad what with the wealth of apps and accessories available for the device.

For me, the iPad is an expensive toy. Why? That's my use case. I use my iPad primarily for entertainment. First and foremost, for me, it's a comic reader. A really nice comic reader but it's something I can live without. Someone else might use the iPad as their primary computing platform and for them, it's considered essential.

Again, these are just individual opinions and would differ based on the utility/value that individuals perceive to get from the device. Different strokes for different folks. There's no right or wrong answer.

One thing I do find interesting, it's only people who don't buy something who call it overpriced (regardless of whether they consider it a toy or not). Most just call it pricey or expensive but not overpriced.

Really, really nice (at least the Comixology and Dark Horse stuff). I find the text in speech bubbles in American comic books to be barely legible on the iPad 2 in fullscreen view. With the new iPad, text is just so clear. Heck, now I can even view comics in landscape/double page mode and I can still read the text. For me, it's really a worthwhile upgrade over the iPad 2.

Cool. I'll try it in a bit. The magazines look great. Text is as you say with comics, very crisp & clear. I had started moving all of my mag subs to the iPad because it's just easier to have.

Seems primative and labor intense. For a long time, I've been hearing that stores would use RFID to permit self checkout -- walk out of the store, swipe your card, and you're done. It was said that the shopping cart would keep a running total while shopping. A lot of stores (Walmart and Home Depot come to mind) use self service checkouts that scan barcodes and can accept cash or credit.

Oh, God. I've tried that crap at a couple of grocery stores. I hate self check out. Where my $%&$ discount for doing someone else's job?? Hate it and hardly use it.

And the whole thing of walking around the grocery store with my own bags and a freaking scanner drives me INSANE. Here I am, looking like booby the fool, juggling a shopping list and a hand held scanner. AND for extra credit I get to bag my own stuff??! (and still no discounts) Pfft! Pffffffft I say!

About 125 issues are available in the "CMX-HD" format to begin, covering every issue released last week, and every issue released from this point on will also be in HD.

the Comixology apps will recognize if you're using a new iPad, and automatically offer to re-download any already-purchased comics in the new HD format.
