I did very well this month. Only bought 4 ebooks and read two of them. I'll see if I can do even better next month and not add on too much to my ever growing ebook collection.

I did so-so this month. I also only acquired 4 books plus Asimov's, but didn't read any of them yet. I did complete an extensive listing of all ebooks and audiobooks currently unread, and can't believe how much $$$ the accumulated unread cost! Gotta buckle down here.

Seventeen bought last month, for £20.74.
Only three bought so far this month. And I intend it to stay at three for the rest of this month! I have removed some public domain books from my TBR. If I ever feel like reading them, they'll be there, but I don't se that I should count them in my total. That leaves my TBR at 1063, the vast majority of which are paid-for books. Let's see how low I can go during November. ![]() Last edited by pdurrant; 11-01-2018 at 04:32 PM. |

No purchases in October. Read three books (all prior purchases) for the month.
Still trying to read most of the cash spent books before borrowing from library again. There are still 13 unread books from 2017/2018 and about 20 from all the years prior. |

I read/finished 17 titles in October, five of which I cannot count on my challenge for various reasons. One of the remaining twelve is a short story that I edited and assembled into an ebook; it came out on Halloween. Eight more were graphic novels, with a ninth almost finished, and the remaining three were actual prose books - one long novella and two novels.
Currently on deck are the aforementioned in-progress GN and a just-started steampunk novel that’s been collecting virtual dust for a while. |

Kind of back to normal service for me, in October. Only 3 purchases, one of which was a crowdfunded book I actually bought in June 2017. 8 total acquisitions, including loans and freebies, and 9 books read, so a gain of 1.
On the downside, I haven't started any of the 3 purchases, although one of them is probably going to be my next read. |

I am proud of myself. I went threw my kindle and deleted the books I know I will never read and have no interest in anymore. I kept the books I know I am interested in and want to get to eventually. I no longer pay full price for book or audibles, I put them on my wish list and wait till they get discounted or on sale. Exception is when it is a new release from an author I read on a consistent basis.

New Job = 6th and 7th book purchases of 2018:
Lepore's book clocks in at 960 pages and the Ginsburg biography at 752. We bought them in hardcover as my wife prefers pbooks and she wants to read both. Ought to last me until 2019. |

I can no longer handle large pBooks, and 960 pages is definitely beyond what my hands can handle!
I have a new job as well, but it's having the opposite effect on me. I'm buying more even as I'm reading less. Pure, unadulterated, retail therapy. Bad! The only redeeming thing is that I've managed to keep the average price down to something nearly reasonable. But really, I need to get this under control. |

Amen that!!
I probably should get one of those (book seats, not wives - I have a wife already<g>). But mostly, I just stick to eBooks. However, I miss my old dog, Wally. World's best Kindle Rest! The instant I sat down, he'd jump up (or, in his later years, walk up the stairs) onto my lap, spread across it, and go to sleep. And I'd prop a book up on his butt to read. ![]() |

I bought a this Peeramid bookrest which does a fairly decent job of holding my hardcover copy of Gombrich's The Story of Art, good job of holding the average hardcover and a great job of holding my tablet. It's particularly useful when I'm listening while doing embroidery as the side pockets work well for holding my scissors and the rim makes for a useful pin cushion when needed.
![]() On the minus side I've already bought a book this month and it's been several months since my TBR list has decreased instead of increased. ![]() |
