I can only think of the Czechoslovakia split and the Yugoslavia split, but that only gives me six. Dang.

^My love of hockey and tennis helped me out with those ones. I thought Croatia would have been one, but oh well. Someone else will have to finish because I suck at African and Middle East geography.

Who was the truth-teller, the striped Martian or the spotted one?

The spotted one.

Any Martian will reply "yes" to the question posed, so the spotted Martian is telling the truth in that part of its statement.
