I've wasted enough time with drugs as a kid. Now I like being with myself, I like the high of endorphins during sports.

Part of my drugs-phobia as it relates to brain-chemistry is that of fearing that its intentional alteration of same will stop me from being myself, and make me someone else. If become unhinged, I'd rather fix the hinges than move house.

I used to be an IT trainer - this is back when DOS was still used. One of the DOS courses covered creating batch files (extention .bat). By the time the course got to this, most delegates were dying of boredom, so I always managed to get a small (and genuine ) laugh from them by getting them to create a directory called belfry in which to keep their .bats

Nice one... we geeks like to be cleaver. Like having a directory named "au" to keep the release code in, you know the "gold" code, which is AU right. Off course, that means keeping the beta release in the "ag" folder.

I recently revamped some build scripts and called the target that cleans up the old builds and artifacts "hazel". You know, from the TV show Hazel where she was a maid.

That's roughly where I've ended up as it turns out - management have now noticed and are referring me for 'counselling'
Unfortunately, when my doctor told me to persevere with the pills for another few weeks he FAILED to tell me that when I called up to make a review appointment after that few weeks he would be on holiday till SEPTEMBER!
He could've mentioned it, is all I'm saying...

I've emailed my neurologist to ask how long, roughly, he would suggest persevering for when I'm getting all the (nasty) side effects and none of the benefits, so just waiting to hear.

Should keep the Edinburgh meet-up next week interesting at least!

Your doctor is nuts. But you can get naproxen sodium over the counter, as "Aleve."

Me too. Due to allergies and what-not, I'm now taking a little pile of pills every evening, which really bugs me. (Ok, so one of them is a multi-vitamin. I guess that doesn't count.)

A doctor I saw once for stress asked if I had come for a prescription. I told him I thought those kinds of meds were a crutch. He pointed out that if I had a broken leg, I'd be glad to have a good set of crutches, at least until my leg healed. Sensible argument. I didn't take him up on the meds at that point... but when I started having panic attacks that were keeping me from going to work, I kept that in mind. (Now I'm just waiting for the "broken leg" to finish healing.)

Poor Mindy. Just tell them not to frak with the fairy. In the meantime, are you in a union? If so, consult them about your management's demands. It would certainly be sensible to keep all messages from management, just in case. And ask for all oral messages to be confirmed via email, so that you have a copy. These days one just cannot be too careful...

I forgot to do my rant this morning....

so last night I decided to have a nice long lukewarm bath (I was miserably hot and sweaty). I turned on the water to clean out the tub as I haven't used it for awhile, my tub and shower are completely seperate from one another, first I turned on the cold water full blast, it started running and...... *something* PLOPPED out of the faucet! it was about 3 inches long, and squirmy. I can handle rodents, spiders, most lizzards and just about anything else, but not snakes, EVER!!!! (I was bitten when I was little) I eeeeeeped or ooooooooped maybe even errrrrrrrrrrged! grabbed my housecoat (I almost missed it) and ran for the landlord. he came over and as he was chuckling away, scooped it up! apparently it was a milipeded, or centipede, it just had lots and lots of leggies. after he left I stood in the corner of the bathroom and stared until just the right amount of water was in it.

one's faucet really should not *ploop*. ever! not a good thing! ever never~!!!

That sounds horrid, Krisk.

While we are in the bathroom, may I have a short rant about shower caddies? Why do they always rust so quickly? The chrome-plated ones rust at the joints, then elsewhere. The plastic-coated ones also rust at the joints. I've tried coating them with beeswax, Vaseline, WD40 etc. and they still rust. Can't someone come up with a non-rusting version?
