fanfiction.net Updates Not Visible
I wrote a mail to ff.net´s support. Let's see if an answer comes.
Every story alert mail I got since Sunday 21 clock doesn´t work. If I click the link manually I get an error message on the site: But it's a shame that there is nothing on ff.net´s twitter or their home page. A short info like "problem is know and we are working on it" would be nice. Last edited by ILB; 11-02-2020 at 01:10 PM. |

From various posts, the FFNet app seems to be working. Not much help in the case of FFF though.

New Test Version Posted
2020-11-02 - Add Yes/No to all to most question_dialog boxes. Most of the dialog boxes that ask you for a yes/no decision now have 'Yes to All' and 'No to All' buttons now. These are the applicable dialogs:
Fun fact: it takes some doing, but it is actually possible to trigger all six of those in the same download. |

I did a quick test. It seems to work fine.
![]() FFNet still seems to be not working right. ![]() Aside from that one fic I mentioned earlier (interestingly, the chapter disappeared again after I managed to download it...) the last time I successfully updated any FFNet fics was on the 31st. |

Created an account specifically to look for help on this:
For whatever reason, FFF is only downloading the first post of story's. They're threadmarked, its on default settings (tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin several times) and the problem persists. I was originally trying to figure out how to download sidestories as well as threadmarks, but now I'd just be happy if it was working normally again. |

How would I have FFF nullify an integer column upon fanfic update? " "=>#percentread under custom_column_settings caused an error.

I assume you got a "invalid literal for int() with base 10: ' '" error. Which is perfectly true--it's not.
And knowing you, I doubt you'll happy with the easy answer: Use "0". FFF deliberately skips setting custom int/float columns to empty string values (''). Probably to 'do the right thing' on update when a user has manually populated a column with a value that particular story or site doesn't have. Which makes me reluctant to change the existing behavior. How many other people would find the ability to explicitly set a column to empty string (or None, which appears equivalent) useful? Or would prefer if empty metadata values in general would also blank int/float instead of leave them? |

Unintentionally blanking columns would probably be annoying. I'll just use 0.

For the reading list settings, is there any way to exclude fics of certain criteria (#fanficstatus: oneshot) from being added to the "send to device" list?
While redoing my reading list setup (instead of using replace-device, I switched to add-all and used the column settings with KoboTouchExtended to make my lists appear as collections) it seemed that making an add/overwrite list that cleared itself after syncing could be a way to solve my forgetting-to-resend-updated-fanfic problem, but that would send all the random oneshots as well. Though I guess I could manually clear those out before syncing. ![]() Last edited by ownedbycats; 11-04-2020 at 10:15 PM. |

No, there's no mechanism for selectively adding only some downloads/updates to reading lists when configured to do so automatically.
If you're using a clear-on-sync list, why would you need to clear 'those' more than once? |

Mostly for new oneshots. I download a lot of them.

Until FictionPress gets its shit together and fixes FFNet (if it ever does...), would anything break if I swapped the URL to the AO3 version of crossposted stories and updated from that?
Some of them I swapped over already with overwrite, but FFNet sometimes has cover images. Last edited by ownedbycats; 11-05-2020 at 03:00 AM. |
