That was my point. The publicized date is May 20th. The old devices are supposed to work until May 20th. Today is May 13th.

I’ve just downloaded 5 ebooks on my paperwhite 5th gen this morning, it’s not cut off yet. Go to the cloud on your kindle make sure it’s synced up to date and just tap on each book, that’s how I do it.

Go to Amazon and then your book library. Then select the books you want downloaded and specify which device to send them to and then when that's done, turn on WiFi on your K5 and wait and it should work. That's what I did.

As of today, this isn't working. I have a K3, K4, and K5 and none can receive books from Amazon. They could yesterday. Dozens are reporting the same issue on Reddit.

UPDATE: OK, I contacted customer support and eventually (took a lot of time - they kept saying it'll work until the 20th and I kept saying it's not), they said:

"I would like to inform you that Amazon rolling out backend server modifications ahead of the official May 20, 2026 sunset deadline so that the devices can be discontinued on May 20

due to this you are facing the issue.

But please do not worry.

It will be fixed shortly and you will be able to download the book

As I can see that the team is aware and working on this to fix it."
