I cannot replicate right click restore defaults restoring all defaults. Steps I tried: 1) Turn off show splash screen in main interface tab 2) Turn on show a field under title in cover grid 3) In bookshelf change thumbnail opacity to 31% 4) Right click bookshelf and choose restore defaults The change in 3 is reverted the changes in 1 and 2 are not, as expected. |

This is a change in Qt's fusion style which the calibre style inherits. I may be able to override it, but then again, I may not depending on how involved drawing checkboxes is in Qt.

Qt ain't what it purports to be… cute… it's monstrous.
Has anyone tried sorting on one column e.g. Authors (LN, FN) and grouping on another e.g. Publisher - I have, it can be a bit confusing on a library of 3.400 books. Let's say Edward S. Aarons - Assignment to Disaster is at top of List view, and it's the current book and shown in Book details. A switch to Shelf view, will make it first in the Fawcett World Library group, which probably isn't visible, BD wont change. Should there be a "Go to current book" button/shortcut - e.g. a drop down action on Group by button? Or should it happen automagically> BR Last edited by BetterRed; Yesterday at 12:54 AM. |

Use arrow key, the view will automatically move to the current book
(well, not exactly the same that before you presse the key, but it shouldn't be very far away) |

https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibr...5de270712e83cd The original reason to not allow to disable User Interface plugins by default was to prevent the user from disabling internal plugins, which would break many things. But in the meantime, ways to distinguish Internal and User instaled plugins have appeared, so we can change the default value and check if is a Internal and essential plugin by others way. However, Calibre still require to load and initialize plugins at the startup, so depending of the kind of error and where is it in the plugins, Calible could still fail to load the plugins, that it disable or not. Else, to "force" disableling a plugin without load it, no need to delete it: just go to the "%appdata%/calibre//plugins/" folder and rename it (by adding a hyphen at the end), so that Calibre can found the plugin file. And once you test done, rename it back. Last edited by un_pogaz; Yesterday at 02:49 AM. |

I was running from source to see how it's going, yet I missed that. Upon a quick test, I found that it works flawlessly but issues no warning for GUI plugins. I mean, it's somewhat obvious for us, but new calibre users might like to know that GUI plugins require calibre restart to be disabled. |

either way, I think is ok, BTW. (with or without an info message; info messages can be annoying.)

Okay,
I don't know for you Kovid, and I don't want to call the devil, but I think that the bookshelf view is done. Surrely tweak and bug fix, but is finished. Phew, thanks for all your feedback. |

Actually, I do have an option for the bookself view I'd like to have. I'd like an option to be able to make the books all the same width or not and if we do want the same width, an option to change that width.
