It is a page from a PDF consisting of some chess games from 1970. I've sent the PDF to Boyue (long before the 3.02 update), together with a video of the garbled page occurring in the Boyue Reader.

The pictures posted this morning are from the latest update of KOReader, but the anomaly had occurred prior to 3.02 in the Boyue Reader and the Boyue User Interface, though I haven't had time to reproduce all of those results yet.

As stated in my prior posts, a close look at the garbled page discloses that the anomaly is the result of superimposing page N+2 on page N after "erasing" page N+1 - which was never actually displayed due to a lag of some kind.

I am in the midst of a test using the Boyue Reader instead of KOReader. Previously the anomaly occurred both in Boyue Reader and KOReader. Now, at about halfway through the 875 page book the Boyue Reader has lagged three times for what seems more than 10 seconds, but then displays a correct, not a garbled next page. It is possible that the Boyue reader is enforcing a waiting policy and an integrity check of some kind before proceeding -- a suggestion I made to Boyue when I first brought this to their attention. If the problem is now mere lag in the Boyue Reader, it is a definite improvement. However, other apps like KOReader will not benefit from such a fix, and would likely prefer the problem, including the lag, be fixed at the system level.

I can provide a link to the PDF file to you for an independent test, but I would rather not distribute the file to everyone. I don't believe there is anything special about the file, apart from it being 875 pages long.

The issue is pretty weird. Keep in mind that KOReader relies on the system to trigger a full epd update each few pages (using https://github.com/koreader/android-...ler.kt#L33-L34)

Of course that particular call can be changed by Boyue when they want, but then the problem would be in Mars, Muses, Mimas, Alita, Ares, P6 and P10 as all of them are using the same method for updating.

Nonetheless a broken call won't explain why you seem to see 2 different pages at the same time. Unless they broke the NativeWindow API. But that seems unfeasible as some core frameworks rely on it, even when most final apps don't use it directly.

Anyways, happy to know it doesn't happen elsewhere.

I turned to page 100 in BoyueOS - without any problems.
I don't use KOReader - so I can't say anything.

The garbled screen has surfaced twice today on my Alita, at about page 500, and at about page 830. It has happened earlier in the past, and sometimes it happens repeatedly over a course of 20 pages, but it generally looks like a less than one percent error that is not likely to appear in a scan of 100 pages.

I've asked Boyue, who also have had my book for some time, to tell me whether or not they were able to reproduce the problem.

Are you using an internally formatted SD card?

No. I do have an SD Card installed, a Samsung 128G, but not internally formatted.

The Book that has produced the anomalies is on the internal disk, not the SD Card, in the Books directory.

Tachiyomi app (regal refresh option turned on) two pages overlap on my Alita.

It's totally random. File doesn't matter. It freezes sometime on some page for a moment and you get an overlap which don't get refreshed unless you get back to the page it happened. But I would say it's less frequent now after update maybe...
