Wow, I'd like to know where you saw that. The cheapest I saw was $199 for ipad mini 2.

Oh, that's a tough one. It was on TV during football yesterday. I know walmart has the 199. We'll be watching football again today. I'll watch for the commercial. I asked Husband but he thought it was one of those "if you buy this, you can get the ipad mini for 99." The problem is neither of us can figure out the commercial. I will post if we see it again.

I'll watch for the commercial, but husband thinks it was something to do with a phone so this is probably it.

I've noticed that many of the Amazon "Deals of the Day" on cameras seem to be total BS. They simply mark up the so-called suggested retail value and sell the items at the same price they have been sold at for months! Rip off. There are some truly good deals, but beware of the camera deals.

It's not just cameras and not just amazon that does that. The two cameras I posted were decent deals (I bought a "lighter feature" Canon and paid 60 a few years back, so the one I blogged with 16mp at 95 was a good deal--it's 114 now). But I totally agree with you. When it was on "special" yesterday I think it said the regular price was 199 or something like that, yet today it's 114 and no mention of that higher price.

Unless you've been shopping around BEFORE November, it can be really hard to know if something is a good deal or not. A lot of the fabric places I shop have 15 percent off for every "holiday" and they don't discount more than than for BF. It's just another average deal.

OK, gotcha. I rarely pay any attention to that type of deal, because I'm rarely in the market for the prerequisite items needed to get the super deal.

Also, if you do shop regularly at Wal-mart, you can use their Savings Catcher and add your Wal-mart receipts. (You can either add them online by typing in the receipt number, or scan them with their app. It's flaky, but beats the hell out of typing in that long number.) Any money you get back can be cashed out to a Bluebird card. I got lucky last fall and got a decent amount back, then cashed in before the end of February to get the double credit offer by cashing out to Bluebird. Ended up with over $100 free from that!

Had no idea, my hubby actually has one of these cards just for this purpose! And yes, apparently he did the double credit thing too, so Yeah!

That is sooo cute! My grandmother made all of us grand kids sock monkeys when we were little, and she made them for all the great grand kids that were born while she was still alive. I have a very soft spot in my heart for the sock monkeys.

so, why not set up freetime on it? the free version, not the paid one. lets "kids" download but not buy...

and just having a password is probably enough to stop him from accidental purchases (your mom can enter it, if it something he really wanted).

Because I am an idiot and know absolutely nothing at all about these tablets!! And yes, I will freely admit it! I really wish we had more traffic over in the Fire thread so I could read up on all these helpful hints. We need a dedicated thread for the cheap one we all bought like the Moto E thread. I'll definitely check into freetime too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh, and just so everyone knows, these are going to two different houses. My mom is getting one, my dad gets a subscription to the Wall Street Journal every year for Christmas. My Father In Law will be getting the other Fire. I have no clue what I will be getting my Mother In Law yet.

Triple quote -- see the little box to the right of the Quote box? Hover and it says Multi-Quote This Message. To triple quote, click the Multi-Quote box for the first and second persons. Then for the last person, click the Quote box.

I think they'll all boil down to deals Amazon covets because they'll make Amazon a lot of money.

For Amazon you can use CamelCamelCamel to check historical prices on physical items like that. It's quite handy for seeing if the price is really a deal or not.

Multi-quoting is simple, the little square button to the right of the quote button at the bottom right of each post toggles multi-quote on/off for that post. Simply click that for the posts you want to quote, then click quote for the last one and it'll fill in quotes for each post in the reply box for you. I attached a screenshot of just the buttons for you below:
