Fair enou. I wasn't necessarily addressing him. I know other tablets don't offer SD card slots. But because I don't own them or haven't used them I'd don't feel it's my place to speak about them without experience. Others on this forum apparently don't feel the same way & would rather state misinformation.

I give up. I'm just trying to be part of the community & help set the record straight.

What lies did I tell exactly? I said that I personally would never even consider a tablet without an expansion slot - and that was all. Are you telling me the iPad does have a slot?

As for your next baseless assumption; I don't have a tablet maker of choice, because I don't own a tablet. Had the new iPad had an expansion slot it would have fit the bill perfectly and would have ordered one already, but as far as I'm concerned I would rather buy something with much inferior specs and a slot. Happily I'm in no hurry, so I'm perfectly content to wait until something I consider good enough appears.

Isn't the Google tablet basically an Asus Memo 370T? Anyway, I'm holding out for something a bit heftier than that. I'd like to see a 10" device with a screen more or less on par with the iPad's, 64GB storage, a faster processor/chipset than the Tegra3 and, of course, at least one card slot as well as other connectors. Ideally I want something which can realistically replace my laptop, which appears to be some way off yet. The new iPad would have covered most of my requirements, but like I've said....

The upcoming Transformer Pad Infinity sounds like it might be up your alley. I know it's on my to-buy list.

Monkeyluis: I was interested to learn you attach an SD card reader to your iPad and that it works quite well. That might sway me toward a retinal iPad at some point, but I'm still dreading the idea of not being able to work on a large file for some reason because there isn't enough space on the boot drive. Another question I'd have is how the iPad handles SD cards if you're actively editing a sound or video file stored on one and there isn't enough room for the file on the iPad alone.

monkeyluis: That's because you haven't done any reasersch nor understand the cloud. It may not be physically be built in but I can easily use SD cards with the iPad. I also have the option to use other external storage, which is exactly what an SD card slot would bring. So let me ask you, what is it that makes an SD card so important that without it renders the iPad useless, i.e a toy in your words. Look forward to the response.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I would never have bought a Nook for my grillfiend if it hadn't had a card slot. It isn't just a matter of storage that determines the need. It's also a matter of how the Nook's set up.

Come up with something better. The app store has everything that is needed and more. Unless your pirating apps, then there's no reason to side load. So come up with something else. See my post just above this for a response regarding SD slot or external storage. These comments are based on pure ignorance.

The problem I have, especially with "true" Apple fanboys, is so many of them would simply never even consider a product by anybody else. Monkeyluis is not in this category and strikes me as quite knowledgeable. (not that he cares, nor should he, what I think.)

What Apple has also created is a group of people (not all Apple users, not by a long shot, but quite a few) who are completely non-technical who use their products. Which is great, Apple really is good at bringing tech to people and making it intuitive and easy to use. But when those people, who don't know the difference between an arse cheek and a gigabyte, start lecturing me about what to buy, they are annoying.

Everyone says an Ipad is so easy to use I got one for my grandma. Marvellous. Until grandma starts thinking that now that she knows how to get online, shes an expert on all things technylogickal and stuff.

Totally agree. I was merely trying to correct the misinformation that it was an overpriced unusable toy as described by Belfaborac & then Hans commenting that apple only wants people to use iTunes & not side load content. These comments are....ignorant (see below). It's perfectly fine if it doesn't work for you, but to say its unusable or that you can't get content o to it without iTunes is false, false, false.

Ignorance means without knowledge. For example, I am ignorant about other tablets, therefore I don't comment on them. It's not an insult.

Since you say correcting misinformation is your calling, I really wish you would stop misrepresenting what I said earlier. What I did say was that "for me the lack of one [an expansion slot] makes it a pointless, overpriced toy". Kindly attempt to understand that I've made exactly no comments on the iPad or any other device in general, only in relation to my needs and wants, and leave me out of it in the future.
