Yep! I'll be spending $6 - including the mystery/thriller offer. It's a bit harder to find ones I want in this one, though - with the mysteries, my problem is winnowing my list.

I wonder when Amazon will do another $20 Amazon gift card for $10 special offer.

As of today, the Kindle with Special Offers page on Amazon still shows this.

"Special Offers
You'll receive special offers directly on your Kindle. Examples of past special offers include:
$10 for $20 Amazon.com Gift Card"

I'm sure many people who are buying the Special Offers edition are expecting to get that deal soon.... based on the line on the Amazon page. If Amazon doesn't want to do the gift card deal anymore, they should remove it to avoid consufing potential buyers.

Well they did it when KSOs first came out and then again for Father's Day. I'm guessing it'll be offered again close to a holiday.

If not, you can get all current offers by following one of these procedures:

1) de-register and then re-register the Kindle. Connect to wifi and update/sync, then check offers once it looks like it is done.

if that doesn't work, then:

2) back up the \documents folder on your computer (also any music or audiobooks, if you put those on the Kindle, but not the SYSTEM folder), do a full RESET of the Kindle (removing all content and offers), connect to wifi, as soon as you see an offer at the bottom of the home page, look at the special offers (page 2 for this one); when done signing up, connect back to computer and restore your \documents folder to the Kindle (and \music, \audible, etc). Leave plugged in for a few nights, to allow indexing to complete.

Just a head-up. On another forum, people are asking (some openly and some via PM) for other people's codes on this 20% off offer. Apparently the codes are also being sold on ebay (so, get some sap to give you his code, then sell it).

The offer says non-transferable and specifically bans selling it. I would not risk my account (and archive access) by giving away my code (let alone, selling it).

I wonder how much Amazon is on top of stuff like these. I haven't actually heard of anyone getting in trouble for this stuff even though the TOS says they would.

I suspect it depends on how brazen the selling of codes becomes. I know some of the early codes worked on any account, but now they do say you must have a KSO registered at the time you enter the code (if they do any checking before fulfilling the order, the terms clearly give them the right to charge the higher amount ... possibly even to the person to whom the code was issued, but at the very least, to the purchaser).

If you haven't taken advantage of this offer yet, I would definitely take a look because I was amazed by some of the laptops this offer can be applied to. It currently shows 557 different laptops and it includes the newest Macbook Airs that Apple just released, the new Google Chromebooks, netbooks, high-end stuff, and everything else in between. Even if you have absolutely no interest or need for a new computer, you could probably make a little bit of a profit selling the laptop to someone else.
