Anyway I am assuming not just that anyone who might know the answers is busy. Looking forward to learning more about the options and settings. Figure I would ask another question lol since I am here. How do you install the dictionaries that are listed within coolreader. I thought maybe coolreader had a folder where you drop in the dictionary but if so I don't see any such location (that goes for fonts as well I guess thought there would be a folder in coolreader as well). If you are reading EPUB you may have it set to use a font specified by the EPUB. Fonts from the font folder do work well for me reading FB2 format.

As far as the TOC not appearing on Coolreader, I've seen it happen a few times. I can't recall exactly how I solved it but it involved the use of Calibre and/or Sigil. I do remember that if the TOC did not show in Sigil, then it would not show on Coolreader. If you can't change the fonts on your book, take a look and make sure that your ebup doesn't contain embedded fonts. If I remember, CR doesn't play well with embedded fonts. There's a Calibre plugin called modify epub that will get rid of embedded fonts or you can go into the css and manually remove them. For the dictionary, both fora and colordict work. Download either from the market (a 20-40mb file I think) and point coolreader to either. Also, open the dictionary as a separate app to see if it works independent of Coolreader. Overall, TOC or other editing/layout quirks you find in coolreader that don't appear in other readers like aldiko/moon+ etc, I believe are a result of the individual books themselves and the fact that there's no standard epub formatting (eg: there are several ways to italicize a line of text etc...). I've noticed that even though Coolreader doesn't read as much of the css as reading apps that employ ADE standards like Aldiko, Mantano and Nook, it's a whole lot better than fbreader and Moon+. Coolreader I feel, gives the perfect balance of maximizing customization while maintaining the book's original look/feel. There are several really nice threads pertaining to all this on the Sony forum. Last edited by Eskarina; 01-08-2012 at 03:18 PM. |

![]() Another way is to convert from epub to mobi and back to epub but use heuristic processing option to "detect and markup unformatted chapter headings..." in the final epub conversion. However, it sounds more like there's something wrong with your device/CR installation etc.. Quote:
![]() Then again, I use CR on a nook color not an e-ink device. That's why I suggested looking at the Sony forums for those using CR on their T1s. You're welcome. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. |

I need coolreader to have the ability to set a default ebook directory that is monitored for book to be added to the database. Plus the database instead of just having Books by Author it also should have book by series as well as a configurable menu.
So we can set how we want it like I could set it by Tags>Series>Book so its easy to find books even if your directory structure is not good. And of course the ability to show book covers without opening it. |

You can find book by title, author, series name, or file name using Search. Book Search is fixed in recent version Books by series and title items will be added to File Browser root soon. To add all books from some folder and subfolders to DB, use Menu/More/Scan Directory on some directory. No automatic directory scanning for now except you entered into some directory manually. |

What about showing the covers without having to open each book?

Is there a setting which makes the book cover the proper size? 3 updates ago the covers showed up normally. Then we got the image scaling setting. Now the covers are very small. I do see the zoom feature works. But cant figure out how to disable the shrinking of the covers? Disabling image scaling mode doesn't put the covers back to size. Whats funny about this is when I put the nook to sleep the screensaver kicks on and the cover is the right size.
