I agree, Stanza is great, but for Adobe DRMed ePub (or library books) it is of no use. For that, you need Bluefire, iFlow Reader or txtr.

Let's hope they are all still around after June, when the whole in-app purchase policy should be clear.

I know the "proposed" solution and it's not acceptable. Nor do I want or need backgrounder on my iPhone. This is the only app I have that has a problem with my jailbroken iPhone. And since txtr works, there is no reason Bluefire cannot also work.

Shrug. I don't expect the developers to spend much time that could be benefiting everyone to help someone using unsupported software who is unwilling to take advantage of the workarounds already provided.

Help. The overdrive bookmark link has stooped working. Tried it on two different library webpages. Checkout book, hit link and nothing happens. Any thoughts? This is the reason I use bluefire.

Jsimon:

Are you trying to use the "Download" button on the library/Overdrive web site or the Bluefire bookmarklet script?

I ask because yes, the download button does not work (from within Safari). However, I can still download a library book into Bluefire using the Safari bookmarklet.

Marilyn

P.S. The script is somewhere on this thread. However, if you wish, I can re-post it here for easier finding... Let me know.

I can understand not fixing this problem is jailbreaking my iPhone was deemed to be illegal. But it's legal. So that is why the problem should be fixed.

Is there a setting to change it to left-handed? I am a "righty" but hold my iPad in my left hand mostly. The left thumb swipe seems to be less responsive than with the Kindle app.

I'm using the method as outlined at http://www.pigsgourdsandwikis.com/20...-bluefire.html which worked fine until today.

Looks like the bookmarklet no longer works on the iPad/mobile site. Using the iCab web browser, I changed the user-agent to Safari (Mac) from Safari (iPad), cleared my cookies, and then was able to use the bookmarklet fine. When I cleared the cookies again and changed the user-agent of iCab back to Safari (iPad), the bookmarklet no longer worked.

I guess the bookmarklet needs to be rewritten for the new mobile site, or you need to somehow force the desktop version of the site to load instead.

Shrug. Development time is limited, so you have to choose what to work on. Fixing an issue for a tiny proportion of users who have jailbroken and are not willing to use available workarounds wouldn't be high on my list.

Somewhere in this thread (I believe) are a number of posts talking about changing the URLs for the library sites.

However, I've just copied the library sites (I have seven libraries I can go to) over into my iPad from my PC. So, when I open the sites in Safari, they are the same as if I was on my PC. And the Bluefire bookmarklet works with them.

Maybe it's just a matter of finding the sites on your PC/Mac and then sending those URLs to your iPad?

Unhappy text settings

Hi, hoping someone can help as I am baffled with trying to adjust/stabilize the text in bluefire using an ipod touch. I'm reading a borrowed lib book in pdf format. I can only increase text size by using the pinch method and must repeat on each new page. The settings icon only give the option of orientation lock and night mode.

As it is a lib book I cannot open with Goodreader. The book does not download to Overdrive from FLP site as it is in pdf format. Message states to download to puter and then device.

I appreciate any assistance provided.
Thanks
Judy

The solution to your problem is to forget PDF. They do not work well on a screen that small. Only download ePub and you will be fine.
