You know one limitation with the iPad and most tablets in general is that they can only display one app at once. This can become an issue if like, for instance, you need to have a book open to reference. It would be nice if perhaps you can have two windows open side by side. Earlier today I had a brainstorm on how such a feature might be implemented in an Apple-esque manor:

You start by bringing up the app switcher. Then you press and hold until the icons jiggle. At this point you will notice two things. First there is a little blue icon attached to some of the apps in the tray. This tells it that these apps support the split app mode. Second, if the app currently running also supports split app mode, a line will appear splitting the screen in half (apps which don't support it will instead show a NO symbol). The split runs vertical in landscape, horizontal in portrait.

Now you just have to drag a compatible app to either part of the screen. Release your finger and it will take over that part, with the current app collapsing into the other.

PS Yes I know the icons are a little off scale.

Wow -- I didn't even know there WAS a split app mode. I'll have to investigate that.... Thanks for the pics and the How-To.

Can you name a few apps that do support it? Or, what type of app is likely to support it?

Apologizes, but like I said this is just a concept I brainstormed. It's how I imagine Apple could implement multiple on-screen apps, if they ever do.

Now I have heard of a hack for jailbroken iPads that will let you run multiple iPhone apps. Don't have any experience with it though.

I dunno. Early one it seemed like the writers just didnt know what to do with him. I wonder if Myka originally was going to stay gone, and the actor playing Jinxy had already signed a contract by the time they decided to bring her back.

Agreed. Jinxy does seem like a forced piece into the jigsaw puzzle.
