The Silent Speaker, the eleventh in Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin series, has dropped to $1.99/£1.49 in the US/UK respectively. Per my favorite Forex website this makes it a bit cheaper in the UK, but only a bit.

This is a rare price drop on a title in this series, and it is one of just a few from the series that I still need in e-book. (Woo-hoo! One more book off my shelves...)

Spoiler:
Quote:
When a powerful government official, scheduled to speak to a group of millionaires, turns up dead, it is an event worthy of the notice of the great Nero Wolfe. Balancing on the edge of financial ruin, the orchid-loving detective grudgingly accepts the case. Soon a second victim is found bludgeoned to death, a missing stenographer’s tape causes an uproar, and the dead man speaks, after a fashion. While the business world clamors for a solution, Nero Wolfe patiently lays a trap that will net him a killer worth his weight in gold.

Wolf Winter (Svartåsen #1) by Cecilia Ekbäck is $1.99

https://smile.amazon.com/Wolf-Winter...al-text&sr=1-3

Quote:
Swedish Lapland, 1717. Maija, her husband Paavo and her daughters Frederika and Dorotea arrive from their native Finland, hoping to forget the traumas of their past and put down new roots in this harsh but beautiful land. Above them looms Blackåsen, a mountain whose foreboding presence looms over the valley and whose dark history seems to haunt the lives of those who live in its shadow.

While herding the family's goats on the mountain, Frederika happens upon the mutilated body of one of their neighbors, Eriksson. The death is dismissed as a wolf attack, but Maija feels certain that the wounds could only have been inflicted by another man. Compelled to investigate despite her neighbors' strange disinterest in the death and the fate of Eriksson's widow, Maija is drawn into the dark history of tragedies and betrayals that have taken place on Blackåsen. Young Frederika finds herself pulled towards the mountain as well, feeling something none of the adults around her seem to notice.

Four late-ish titles in the excellent (IMO, but also in the opinion of award nominators, since the series has lots of nominations/wins) Deborah Knott series by Margaret Maron have dropped to $1.99 each at Kindle and Kobo US. The presumably final title in Maron's lesser known, but also excellent IMO, Sigrid Harald series, Take Out, is also at $1.99.

Titles include:
  • Winter’s Child, Knott #12
  • Hard Row, Knott #13
  • Death’s Half Acre, Knott #14
  • Sand Sharks, Knott #15
  • Take Out, Harald #9

Three titles in Donald E Westlake's Dortmunder series, and one non-series title have all dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. (I'm detecting a trend here - these and the previous two are all pubbed by Hachette. I'll have to go check some other Hachette authors sometime when I get time later today...) The Kindle links also include a fifth title that hasn't dropped in price at Kobo US (at least as of yet).

Titles include:
  • The Road to Ruin, Dortmunder #11
  • What’s So Funny?, Dortmunder #14
  • Get Real, Dortmunder #15
  • Money for Nothing, non-series
  • Trust Me on This, non-series, Kindle only

Frog Music by Emma Donoghue is $1.99.

https://smile.amazon.com/Frog-Music-...t%2C157&sr=1-1

Quote:
Summer of 1876: San Francisco is in the fierce grip of a record-breaking heat wave and a smallpox epidemic. Through the window of a railroad saloon, a young woman named Jenny Bonnet is shot dead.

The survivor, her friend Blanche Beunon, is a French burlesque dancer. Over the next three days, she will risk everything to bring Jenny's murderer to justice -- if he doesn't track her down first. The story Blanche struggles to piece together is one of free-love bohemians, desperate paupers, and arrogant millionaires; of jealous men, icy women, and damaged children. It's the secret life of Jenny herself, a notorious character who breaks the law every morning by getting dressed: a charmer as slippery as the frogs she hunts.

In thrilling, cinematic style, Frog Music digs up a long-forgotten, never-solved crime. Full of songs that migrated across the world, Emma Donoghue's lyrical tale of love and bloodshed among lowlifes captures the pulse of a boomtown like no other.

Long Lost by David Morrell is $0.99 at Amazon US.

I haven't read Long Lost yet, but I've loved the other books of his that I've read.

Quote:
Brad Denning is a successful architect living a perfect life in Denver with his loving wife and son. Or so it would be, if not for the haunting memory of his brother Petey who disappeared while under Brad's supervision when they were kids. Now, a man claiming to be his sibling has mysteriously appeared and Brad is eager to take him in, despite the man's haggard appearance and reluctance to reveal anything about his past.

"Petey" is a welcome addition to the family, until a camping trip goes terribly wrong and Brad returns home to find that his devoted wife and son have been abducted. Certain that Petey -- or whoever he may be -- is responsible for the horrible crime, Brad sets out to recover his family. Traveling alone through America's heartland, it's a race against time as Brad struggles to get to his family before the terrible secret of what really happened long ago destroys everything he cares about.

Spoiler:

Amid the ongoing & disturbingly hushed investigation of the murder of Queen Nefertiti, the pharaoh's trusted advisor Lord Meren is suddenly called away to investigate the bizarre death of the pharaoh's favorite groom, Senna.

Slayer of Gods has also dropped again to $1.99, after briefly going back up to $9.99. The links in the post below are still good.

It's sort of odd that the only two titles in this series that appear to be available as e-books are the last two - I have my fingers crossed that some of the others will make it into e-books some day too...
