What are you currently writing? - Page 31

I'm working on my first draft of a still-nameless fantasy (for the sake of being able to refer to it, it's using the very temporary monicker "The Black War") sitting around the 56k word mark so far, and destined for 10-15k more at a guess.

I'll be glad to put this one behind me for a while after it's done though. There's a lot that I need to work out in it (plot holes, missing elements, and half of the first part being incredibly dull), and I'm more interested in going back to the only other novel I have a finished draft of and prepping to polish it into something decent.

And maybe one day down the road actually get published.

Wrong thread I thought I was in the recommended reading thread, but this is a good read. I have finally started my horror novel. Yet another zommbie story.

I really enjoyed American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson, and happily recomend it to all. Well written, insightful, a little sad but totally heart warming.

I'm currently working on The Antithesis which is now being displayed chapter-by-chapter at the link.

Sort of gives me motivation to edit and continue writing.

I just released a novella, so I'm now back to working on my second novel Miss Taken Identity. Although, I enjoyed writing the novella so much that I may do one more before diving back into the novel.

It can joyfully be announced:

Ace Books has acquired a new steampunk trilogy from Steven Harper (me). Series title: THE BRAIN PLAGUE.

In Book One, THE DOOMSDAY VAULT, Alice Webb and Gavin Michael join an underground police force in Victorian London, where they fight zombies, mad scientists, and air pirates in an attempt to save the British Empire from a terrible plague, only to discover that the cure may be worse than the disease.

Books two and three are tentatively titled THE IMPOSSIBLE CUBE and THE DRAGON MEN.

THE DOOMSDAY VAULT is due on December 1, 2010. THE IMPOSSIBLE CUBE is due on July 1, 2011, and THE DRAGON MEN is due on February 1, 2012. (In other words, I have about seven months to write each book. Whoo! My fingers will be a-flyin'!)

Anne Sowards at Ace will be editing.

We're very happy over here.

My mystery has been successful enough in its Kindle edition that I went over the historical romance that's been sitting on my computer for years and re-edited it. It's set in Colorado in 1885 and is a story of family conflicts and the affect they have on a couple. The title is Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold, and I hope to have it out for Kindle within 2 weeks. I know it's a whole different ball game than my cozy mystery, but I think it's a good story and am all enthused about Kindle publishing since the first book went so well.

I just finished the first draft of Tesla's Stepdaughters-- a science-fiction, rock and roll, detective story. I should have it ready to publish in a couple of months. Right now, I'm working on s superhero story.
