I'm personally going to wait for people here to start to post reviews, and possibly still not buy one because, well, none of my books actually have any color other than the cover image, which I don't care about.

I don't really care about the color screens. It would be nice to see the book covers in color when scrolling the library or on the sleep screen.

But if it impacts the black and white experience, which is the primary use, that would be a huge negative.

The black/white contrast (first photo) seems fine.

The colors in the cover thumbnails (last photo) are remarkably detailed. They seem to lean toward a pastel-hued palette, but that might just be those particular books. If not, I kind of like the soft colors. But I'd love to see what a real color photo would look like on that screen.

The soft colors are not really a feature rather the way current technology of eink color works. Acceptable for comics, book covers but actual photos not as satisfying. Can look at other color eink devices (Boox) look like to get a good idea.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm in no hurry to buy a new ereader, so I'm just going to wait and see what the folks say about the new Kobos. If there's no improvement other than color, I'll pass.
