Well, you could get both and use the Sage at home and the Libra when out and about.

For anyone interested, I posted a couple of comparison photos of the Sage and the Libra 2 here:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...2&postcount=18

To me the difference in contrast seems pretty insignificant.

After having had it for a while and having read a lot on it, I've come to terms with the battery life. The reader itself is good enough to make the ephemeral battery life tolerable. I suspect that having it in the sleep cover is helping too, by making sure it's actually asleep when I am.

Those are my feelings too, except that I don't use a sleep cover. I still have the power cover on pre-order.

You are fortunate. I have both issues with my Aura One. I've just gone into settings and can't find anything in there that might change either action.

There isn't. When you turn on a Kobo ereader, it will always go to the home screen. @Sirtel said "from sleep". But, if the device takes so long to start, and doesn't end up where you want it, why are you turning the device off? Why not use sleep? That will wake to whatever state you left it and only takes seconds.

Apparently, the battery life if you are just using it for READING can be vastly improved by a couple of (factory resets?), firmware updates and power cycles.

The guy on the YT channel MyDeepGuide just did a dedicated piece on this

MEANWHILE,

Does anyone else have any experiences to report or analysis of the Sage battery-drain problem?

Does anyone here have a Sage but has used a Libra 1 or Forma?
How do you find the experience of the weight (240g) and size of the Sage by comparison?

The whole reason I've come to like e-ink readers is because of the size and weight of the Libra 1 (192g).

I suddenly found myself reading alot more.
Meanwhile a device even only as heavy as the Boox Note Air 2 (420g) is a bit too heavy for me to pick up casually and start reading...

But I need a new device because 6GB is just not enough space for me.

So Im tossing up between Libra2 and Sage.

The main reason I'm looking at Sage is that extra inch...it might make PDFs easier than Libra. I've mostly moved to epubs, but I still have PDFs and Libra is a complete fail on many of them. I'm hoping Sage will make just a few more PDFs more readable**.

But Im concerned about the weight, (size) (and notorious battery life)
and there are NO stores in Melbourne where I can even hold one!

(** For the really big textbooks, I have the Boox Air (e-ink) and even a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (colour, 463 g) that Im willing to use for them)

Weight of some devices and how they affect my reading - from lightest to heaviest:

Libra 192g (have it - the size and weight makes me pick it up often - it's changed my reading life!)

Sage 240.8 g (would like to know people's experiences of the feel: does it make you want to pick it up and start reading something often? See post above!)

Forma 197g (never tried one but its about the same weight as a Libra, but 8 inch screen)

Galaxy Note 8 TABLET (old!) 335g (doesn't feel too heavy but when I got the much lighter Libra I started reading alot more!)

Boox air 420g (still too heavy for me to feel its easy to pick up and start reading, but awesome for written notes)

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 463g (feels too heavy for casual reading but I will use it for big coloured PDF textbooks when I have to)

In the 2.5 weeks I had mine before its case arrived, the weight was not an issue for me. I definitely NOTICED the weight difference from my Libra H20, but I could hold it even in my weaker hand and read comfortably. What I was constantly conscious of was the fact that the most expensive ereader I've ever owned was totally naked.

Since putting it in its case I don't walk around reading with as I occasionally did without the case, but that was a novelty anyway. My normal reading pattern is to to sit and rest the book on my lap or, now that I have the case, use the case as a stand. Both scenarios render the weight moot.

What battery drain problem? I used to get ~20 hours of reading from my Forma while the Sage gives me ~15 hours. If and when I start making heavy use of the stylus, I will likely notice a severe drop in the battery life since all 4 cores will be very busy given that handwriting recognition tends to be CPU intensive.

Since 15 hours is at least 12 books and I would be connecting to my computer to sideload more books before the battery went dead, I actually had to load a few extra books in the batches I used to test that 15 hours battery life.

As for the weight, I really don't notice that much difference in the weight between the Forma and Sage in their cases unless I pay attention to the weight (the Forma & case is 329g while the Sage & case are 399g), the weight without the case is 197g and 241g respectively which pretty much matches Kobo's specs. Now if they had shaved a gram or so off the Sage case by exposing the power button...

You read 12 books in 15 hours? You must be Evelyn Woods' number one student.

It automatically turns off. I've found a setting to stop that so we'll see now what happens and how battery life is affected.

Has anyone noticed PDFs a little bit easier to read on the Sage compared to say, the Libra?

Do you think that the slight increase in ease of reading PDFs would be worth the extra 50 g of weight and the slightly larger device,

for someone who has the Libra 1 and loves the weight-and-size of that, but needs to get a 32 GB device anyway?

(So choosing between Libra 2 and Sage)
