Something really weird happened today. I ordered 2 items in morning, Amazon wanted $9 or so for 1 day shipping - I refused (2 day is plenty fast for me), then a few hours later I ordered something else. Surprisingly at checkout it offered free 1 day shipping. Oh well, might as well. And I get the notification sometime later that the 2nd order with 1 day shipping is on the way and that Amazon combined both orders to arrive tomorrow. Did something happen to Amazon to offer free one day shipping after ordering more than once per day?

Last week I ordered something with delayed shipping from Amazon, it arrived the next day and I still got the $1 credit. Maybe Amazon has been speeding things up lately.

I think it just depends on the shipping volumes at the warehouse your order is being shipped from. If volumes are lower, they ship the slow-shipping ones sooner. If they're higher, they put it off longer.
