I am currently plugged into my Fire Phone having Alexa's voice read a Kindle book to me via text to speech. First time I've really listened to TTS for any length of time. Good but somewhat freaky pronunciations. I would prefer a male voice for this book but couldn't see a way to change it. Anyway, it's a nice way to "listen" to an ebook!

Except my sister is in the hospital so I didn't get any calls it texts while in airplane mode. It's done this before it happens when on charger it seems. The video thing is new though but I think something in my purse must have touch the screen or something.

My phone changes its settings as well - turning the ring volume up or off is the most common change. There was a song waiting to download that I know I didn't shop for. And it even reset custom ring tones set for individual contacts back to the default ring tone.

This happens when it is in its case at night - so I can't blame random bumps or contacts on the screen. I'll turn it on in the morning and find the Settings icon in the carousel - when I've not done any changes the day before.

I been tell you folks mines been Haunted since I got it! Still get 1,000+ ebooks on the Carosel every other week! Takes Hours to put them Back into to their Collections! & get them off the carosel! At 1st it was just the Amaozon books Now its the sideloaded books Too!

If it's like my Fire HD6, you go to Settings then to Language then to Text to Speech, where you can download more voices and set the default one. Kind of an odd place to put it, in my opinion. (But you probably know a lot about his than I do. "Alexa" is not a choice on the Fire HD6.)

Thank you. I found the language setting but it's mainly for foreign languages. I've downloaded UK so maybe that will be male.

Alexa isn't named on the phone, but it's the same voice as on my Amazon Echo.

Who's received the new update (3.6.8 to 4.6.1)? I updated this morning and the UI still looks the same. What did this new update change?

It doesn't look like a Fire Tablet, still has two music apps, and is still missing Prime Stations.

No idea. The update page still shows 3.6.8 as the latest version.

For me, I had a notice on my phone telling me I could update to 4.6.1; so I did.

I got the 4.6.1 update too. I do wish they would provide change logs. The main difference I notice is that periodically get a broad strip across the top of the lock screen with temp and weather info. Sometimes it shows and sometimes does not. Weird.

Yes I went to the update page on Amazon it like you said didn't have any updates for the phone. I guessing a few are getting them to Bata Test?
