A co-worker has been trying to tell me that she gets 2 free audiobooks a month as a prime member. Is there true?

Yes, but the choices available are widely disliked. Other than the Stephen Fry one, the rest I trashed after an hour of listening. If you are into biographies, then it's probably exactly what you want. FWIW, the Spartan Fit worked for me, but I have both Prime and a membership. We'll see how all that stuff works after the 8th when I drop my Audible account.

The Audible Originals? I didn’t think they were tied to Prime.

Two free, but from a very limited selection of ~6, and they’re more novellas or shorts, not really full books. Plus, if one finds the pre-orders, they are all free.

While shipping is arguably still the single largest benefit for most people, I'd wager there are folks that get the $100 (or whatever it costs now) value primarily out of the other benefits (video, music, ebooks, whatever).

While the shipping benefits have become slightly less valuable to us (between them raising the price and many packages getting delayed or lost), we decided the total package was still worth being a member.
