Oh, this is my sort of question! She's even something of a role model for one of my characters.

I believe she was the first female doctor in Britain. IIRC, she wasn't the first to *train* in Britain, but the first to practise.

Yes, indeed. She's descended from Queen Victoria's oldest child, a daughter, rather than from her second child, later King Edward VII. Commonwealth leaders recently agreed that it's time to change the rules, from the present Queen's children onwards.
