That's my take on it, too.

I suppose I should take this opportunity to admit to having bought two books so far this month, after a clean March. The first was for 99¢ and was made to keep my B&N settlement credit alive; another was for a book whose price I figured couldn't stay low indefinitely. No regrets, but it's a slippery slope. On the other hand, my TBR is at a net reduction of one for the month so far, so at least I'm still going in the right direction.

Yes, it is. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves about that.

I've had a tough April because of the members sale at Audible plus that thing at Amazon. At least I'm listening to them now and I RESISTED getting more of those 'try it' authors and just adding them to my wishlist. It's also helping not buying things for other family members. My Mom is getting some things from the library and my sister buys her own stuff on her own account now.

Of course, I had to go look. Looks like the sale is over. I did resist buying anything in the last one that ended in March but I don't think I could have again.

I was doing ok until I went to the library to pick up a hold and saw the friends of the library were having a sale. $3 for any hardback, $1 for paperbacks or 6 for $5. I left $8 poorer.

ETA: I know this is an ebook buyers' support thread but for me used books are an addiction too.

I was so used to picking up books for my mom at sales at the library and garage sales that it's really really tough to resist. But mom has made it clear she only wants e-books now. She is enjoying having more wall space for paintings now that some of the bookshelves are gone.

Don't beat yourself up on getting sale paperbacks, but to make a limit within your home. My sister made a limit that she would have no more books than fits in her bookshelves, and if she has more she has to get rid of something.

The year is a third over and it's time for me to evaluate my reading and buying habits.

Purchased 6 books this year spending $13.94. (Good)

Read 16 books breakdown as follows:
Purchased 7
Library 8
Free 1

So my TBR (purchases) is down only one so far this year. This I would like to improve. So I recently installed a few reading apps on my iPhone to try and read some when I'm out and about. Maybe this will help me finish books sooner and up my numbers.

Unfortunately, while I only buy what I want to read, and usually only when it's on sale, I'm still buying too many books.

I don't do ereaderiq, but Kobo now has a wishlist which might stop me from buying stuff right away. Oh, that looks interesting, I'll put it on my wishlist.

I had been decreasing my purchased and unread count and then there was a 60% off sale at one of my preferred publishers and now my count is back over 400!

Six months ago, we moved back to Chapel Hill, NC after a 6-year absence. Because I am an alumni, I have free access to the UNC-System libraries (there are 15 libraries on campus). Our town library is also one of the most well-stocked and is the most highly used library in the state. I have had zero reasons to buy with all of this within walking distance of our home again.

Bought another book. Those damn monthly Star Trek sales. Well at least I know I like them and I’m getting more and more back in my collection at extra cheap proces. Had to give most of my paperbacks away cause of space issues.

Space truly IS the final frontier!

I can't criticize; I do the same thing. I bought last month's Mirror Universe ebooks because I never owned one and wanted to trade my dead-tree copies of the rest in... just like the Vanguard books before that. I'm on the fence about this month's trilogy, though.
