Perhaps it is not the weather that has changed but out perceptions and tolerance of it? I know 10 years ago the hot nor cold didn't bother me as much.

Actually though, this is one of the reasons I did move to Florida. I didn't like snow, wet, cold/freezing any more. While 3 months of the year here it really is too hot (for me) to do alot of outside stuff... the rest of the year is awesome.

well, i think my perceptions and tolerance have *also* changed (i don't mind the cold as much as i used to, as long as i'm dressed warmly / inside, but i can't take the really hot weather at all now), but i promise you, the climate has changed too. ask anyone. we didn't used to have so much cold rainy weather in summer, and we didn't used to have such extreme heat when it was hot. also we used to have an actual transition from winter to summer ; we called it "spring". we don't have that anymore either ; now, it just goes brutally from chilly to hot overnight, or else skips the "hot" bit altogether and stays cold the entire time. paris was never the place you go for the beautiful summer weather, but still, we had actual summers where you could wear your summer dresses (and sandals) and spend all day out in the park for a concert, having a picnic dinner... now, you can do that if you're really lucky and / or brave. a couple of weeks ago we had one week of very hot weather (the first few days were nice, near the end i think it was up to 33 and that is too hot, and very unusual for paris, although we're seeing it more often in recent years), then overnight the temperature fell about 15 degrees and it's been grey, windy, rainy... like a month of october. obviously the week of nice weather happened precisely when i started my annual contract where i have to work in the client's office all day every day, so i didn't get to take advantage of it at all.

Please feel free to send the rain my way. It's just past noon here and 38C by my therometer, with a high estimated to be 40C by 3 PM. Clear blue sky, not a cloud in the sky....

Wish we could do that for you Ralph, I know you like gardening too.
Yesterday we had a huge downfall, 25mm (1')in one hour. The 3' downspouts weren't effective enough, so much so that the excess water just dribbled over the sides. The flower bed did not like it.

South Texas is in a pretty serious drought. We had the lowest two month rainfall on record in Houston in May and June and we've had none in July. We can't expect much rain for the next few months unless we get a tropical storm or hurricane. Fortunately, we should be headed into an El Niño which should bring us above average rainfall this coming winter.

El Niño was confirmed by NOAA a couple of days ago....

I'd rather have it cold at night than hot. When it's cold, I can get an extra blanket, when it's hot, I can't remove anything... And I sleep terrible without covering (even when it's hot!)

I never like summer clothes... I'd rather be wearing a sweater! Summer clothes never look good on me.

The weather has changed... It has become warmer and wetter. One reason for me to move further north. At least where I now live (compared to where I lived in my youth), we always have a slight wind and when it's a hot summer day, it comes from the sea (generally east, north east)

Agreed! (in parts - one can remove everything, but if its hot enough this still does not help!).

agree also ! i'd rather it be cool at night. a friend of mine said once "if it's cold, i just put on a sweater. still cold ? another sweater, or a hat, or warmer socks, or a blanket... if it's hot, i take off the sweater. still hot ? take off the shirt. what happens if i'm still hot after that ? i can't take off my skin !!!"

but i'd like it to be warm in the daytime as well. you know, like in *summer*.

Summer... I'm starting to think it's just an imagination of our collective conciousnesses... Ever since we bought that new hammock, we've not had nice weather anymore (the week before last didn't count, wasn't home then...)

The climate differences that people experience around the world are very intriguing. It has been cooler than usual (than in the past 6 years) here in Virginia. It's weather like this that makes the thought of winter bearable for me. The weather has been gorgeous and we've had just the right amount of rain, but just a little further north in New York, people are complaining about the increased amounts of rain fall. Yet, two summers ago, it was excruciatingly hot here and the rain was almost non-existent.

I don't have enough information to understand the truth behind global warming , but the differences that occur in the weather from year to year are very interesting to me.

Yeah, I've been enjoying it myself. My son keeps asking when we're going swimming though, and it's been too rainy/cool for that.
