Sony will not make the PRS-650 (or any readers for that matter) available in Norway. I will, however, be going to Dublin in December, and I plan to buy one there. Are there any likely places to buy one close to the city centre?

They do not honor any laws/promises regarding warranty, in fact they don't even reply to support queries most of the time. My father bought a cell phone and a camera from them (good brands), both of which needed warranty repairs (clear-cut cases). Pixmania wouldn't have anything to do with it at all. Buy from them at your own risk.
Thanks for the advice.

I understand that the store would not take care of the product warranty, that's supposed to be a manufacturer issue after some days have passed (7 days for Pixmania as their web states). I'm just worried if Sony would cover warranty inside Europe if I needed it, despite that product is not being sold in Spain by Sony yet (according to EU stuff, they should, but I don't have references of anyone issuing that). The thing is that whether it's from manufacturer or from the store, I have those 2 years of warranty. I would prefer being covered in the manufacturer warranty though.

Regarding to Pixmania, I've bought some times in the past from them, the last one was a Panasonic camera that I guess it came from France (by the parcel tracking) for my sister. That camera is being repaired just now in a Panasonic store close to here covered by the warranty. Pixmania has nothing to do into that repairing though, it's all manufacturer stuff.

I think I'll call again to sonystyle to see if they can provide me some more warranty info.

Thanks.

Yes, it seems to be easy to reclaim VAT from regular purchases. The price turns out to be quite reasonable. Thanks for the tip

FWIW, Dublin Airport had PRS-505 available very cheap (€140) a year ago. I think it's too early for PRS-650 to be there, but... you never know

I'm in San Francisco at the moment...anyone know where I can see the 350 and 650 in action? The Sony Style store is closed and there are no Targets in the city proper.

Best Buy, Borders and/or Wal-Mart may have display units.

Thanks, I'll try Best Buy.

Borders is only selling the Kobo and there are no Wal-marts in SF.

doreenjoy--

Last I checked, Best Buy stores only had the 350 in stock--and the one I was in didn't have any on display. They had the old 300s and 600s on display.

It's a bit of a jaunt from San Francisco proper, but Sony Style stores in both Palo Alto and Santa Clara have both the 350s and 650s on display. I actually made the drive from Sacramento to Santa Clara (about 90 miles one way) to purchase a 650. I absolutely love it--well worth the trip!

Thanks so much for your reply. I don't have a car with me, alas. I'll see if I can persuade someone to drive down to Palo Alto.

Strangely Waterstones in Manchester (UK) only had the 650 on display along with a garish (pink) 300, and an Elonex. I'm not sure why no 350s were around, maybe they were trying to shift old stock.

It was OK, screen about as good as my 505, but with a slightly darker background grey. I sort of liked the touchscreen, but couldn't really see the point - I kept using the buttons anyway. I'm happy with the 505, but when all good thigns come to an end the 650 wouldn't be a bad replacement. Hopefully they'll be in the 1000 models by then.
