Hello DNSB, thank you very much for the image! My kobo N705 is back to life but again I am stuck on the same step - setting up the device. Firstly I should choose language and then there are two options - Setup through computer and Setup through WiFi. If I choose WiFi and join my perfectly working home network after a few seconds it appears "Network Error Oops, something happened to your internet....". The first option for Setup through a computer is totally not working because the computer is not seeing the device. If I plug the SD card directly into Mac's port the computer detects it immediately. I think it's a common problem but still cannot find a solution.
The kobo is charging normally with the same cable. I tried to install different updates for Kobo Glo or for Kobo Mini but always it finishes with request for factory reset and reversing to its own old version of firmware. I tried also with Kobo Desktop app. I really don't know what should I do to force this device starts working for me. Any ideas?

See pgaskin's Kobo Firmware Download site and download the 3.19.5761-s firmware which was specific to the Mini. Copy the 1 directory and 2 files from the downloaded .zip file to the .kobo directory on your Mini's SD card. When you re-install the card in your Mini and power on, it should go into the firmware install routine.

For the connection to your computer, have you tried a different USB cable, USB port on your Mac or a different computer? You may also want to try using a USB hub between the MIni and the Mac.

The Mini's factory firmware will not work with current TLS 1.2+ security standards so a WiFi connection will not work. The fix for that is in the last official Mini firmware though I have updated my Mini to the latest firmware with pretty decent results.

You will need to have private messages enabled. Posting a request in the Requests to enable Private Messages thread is likely the best way to go.

Once you have Private messages enabled, you can either post a new message in this thread or PM me for the link to the image.

My Kobo Mini boots up OK initially, but then at some point it hangs - I'd like to try with a new micro SD card, so would it be possible to get a copy of the image please?

Hi there,

hope you don't mind me asking after the endless other requests but I wrecked my Mini with a manual update attempt after Koreader wasn't working properly. If anyone has a Mini SD image they could send me to flash onto my SD i'd be very grateful

You will need to have Private Messages enabled before you can be sent the link. If you don't see that option in the "Edit Options" of the User control panel, you should post in Requests to enable Private Messages to ask it to be enabled.

Once PMs are enabled, please re-post here to let me know
