I don't usually read romantic suspense either, but the description on Last Hit is calling to me (LOVE hit man heroes). I've been trying hard this month to keep the book buying impulse under control, but if the sample is good, I think I'm going to have to give my one-click button a little exercise to end the month.

Book buying impulse under control? As hard as I'm trying I just added up the last 3 months and I've bought 275 books And that's with being careful. Granted, the Kobo-palooza-code in February didn't help, and my book price average is under a $1, but still, I simply [HA] need to cut back the number of books I buy. I swear I am trying really hard...

Anyways, back to Last Hit, yes, he's a hitman, and a hot Russian hitman. I dunno, you may not like it, I was just really pleasantly surprised. No cliffanger either, but of course I had to buy Book 2 of the series.

I wasn't disappointed in Play - 3 stars is an a-ok romance read for me, just nothing super special. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the Stage Dive series!

You'll want do download and install Kindle for PC for Windows XP to Win 7 from Amazon's website and download your books to that (they'll go to my kindle content then). The Win 8 Metro apps stores books differently (it stores them in a bunch of small files). There are a couple of threads in the Kindle forum if you want more detail on the Win 8 app and how it stores things.

Grr. I went to what I thought would be just breakfast with my mother this morning and didn't end up coming home until 6:30pm. (So not the way I'd planned to spend my day )

I had also planned to read a lot more this week, but ended up doing what I swore not to and fixed the indentation issue in all of my Samhain titles (and I have a lot, plus I stopped to reread large chunks of some of my favorites). <hangs head in shame > So I will get back to the dates project this week.

From what I gather the author promised her readers an early sneak peak of her next book if Captive Prince made the next round. Nalini has made the final of DABWAHA a few times, but never won. I was just hoping this would be the year.

HOO did make a bit of a comeback. It was losing 20% to 80% early in the round. I think a lot of Nalini fans just didn't know about it. Or people were all voting against their own brackets seeing as how 434 people picked HOO to win. Oh well, my brackets were shot anyway (and totally dead now since I'd picked it to win in the original and 2nd chance tournaments ) Fingers crossed Nalini wins the RITA.

The great part of DABWAHA is it brings to attention a lot of books people may otherwise not have ever seen. I usually end up buying a few.

It's called cheating. They changed their IP addresses and vote over and over. It's sad to see this contest go this way. Too many this year other contests went this way too. It's so easy to change who you are these days fooling computers sites. Jane & Sarah can catch some of the novices doing this but if you get someone who knows what they are doing they can continue to rigged the votes over and over and no one will know the difference.

I don't think it was necessarily cheating. I'm sure a lot of the folks who were supporting other GLBT titles probably put their support behind Captive Prince. And the author seems to be active on social media. As I said HOO started out slow and did manage to almost catch up, but it remained 70 to 100+ votes behind the last few hours. But I think Captive Prince does have a very vocal fan base which is also international. And there was only a 75 votes difference which is not a large margin.

The contest is supposed to be fun. I hope it remains so.

ETA: And Nalini has promised a Kaleb/you-know-who short story (leaving off heroine's name as I know there are folks who haven't read that far in the series yet).

I read more this week than I thought I did. Most of the titles were from my older books. At this rate I should finish up reading all my 2011 purchases sometime in 2015.

• Chasing Silver (Silver Maiden #1) by Jaime Craig - 1.5 - Wow, what a stinker, a rare disappointment from Carina Press. It's a time travel where the time travel doesn't really factor in.
• The Doctor's Deadly Affair - Stephanie Doyle - 3.5
• The Return of Rafe MacKade (MacKade Brothers #1) - Nora Roberts - 3.5 - My first Nora Roberts (including all pseudonyms) ever!
• No One Lives Twice (Lexi Carmichael #1) - 4 - Fun geek girl mystery. I bought the rest of the series after finishing this one.
• The Handbook to Handling his Lordship (Scandalous Brides) - Suzanne Enoch - 3.5 - Weakest of the series.

I knew this was going to be a big week for purchases and I still have another half dozen or so lined up for Tuesday.

I used my B&N settlement credit to splurge on Heat. I decided to track my credit purchases separately since this is money I've already spent. So no, I did not get Heat for $0.66, that's just what I had to pay in addition to my credit.

Has anyone else read Falling Stars by Anita Mills?

Opinions on this book? I finished it this morning and.... UGH well lets just say I gave it two stars.
