Thanks, Ken. I'll rename my "Books" directory to ".Books".

But right now I am intrigued with your idea of upgrading internal memory to a 32GB micro sdhc (since external 64GB micro-sdhc cards don't seem to work). I assume I can just dd all partitions to files, mount via loopback and re-create similar partitions (except the data one which would be much bigger) on a 32GB micro-sdhc and put it back? Or are there some surprizes I should be aware of? UPDATE: Oh, I see the instructions suggest resizing KOBOereader partition instead of re-creating it manually and populating with previous content...

The tools listed work fine for me, as well.

In fact I just made an "AuraSave20130824.img" in my "AuraHD SD Saves" folder on my PC.
(Getting to my internal SD card is a little easier than for most.)

Luck;
Ken

Thank you, Ken. But I am in big trouble. If you can help, please do, see my post at:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=209122&page=6

Basically, the light is gone and the top right corner of the page is no longer touch-sensitive (e.g. I can't come out of Settings screen except via reboot).

Should I do factory reset? I doubt it will solve anything.... Any ideas?

The top and bottom settings screens are dismissed by poking anywhere outside the settings boxes. Center of screen most of the time.

I noticed that for some of the settings to take properly I had to dismiss the settings screen and reselect it.

Hmmm, I can't seem to get it to work. Either I hit the active box (like "Account" or "Extras" etc) or, outside the boxes, nothing happens.

I will be glad when the suspend/sleep within Koreader gets here, I do think that there is a faster power drain if I leave it in Koreader for a long time. For now I just have to remember to reboot to Nickel and shutdown from there.

I was wondering if the IR emitters being active might be the only drain, though? Maybe just having that shut off might save the battery?

Are you talking about Nickel again?

If you are, then you can select "Extras" and then Solitaire and then use the "Home" icon to return to the Nickel home page, without rebooting.

Well, in Sketch Pad (is it part of Nickel? I guess "Nickel" is the name of Kobo's framework, including Chess, Web browser etc?) I see that a strip on the right is inaccessible. I.e. when I move my finger there nothing is drawn.

UPDATE: But in pbchess I am able to make moves on g and h files (i.e. rightmost) with no problem. This is with the board stretched all the way to the edge of the screen...

UPDATE: Ignore the note about pbchess --- those squares were far enough from the edge. But, for example, in notepad I cannot type on the buttons which are very close to the right edge. So, the IR sensors are broken now and it would seem that I've broken them...

Keeping up with postings in multiple threads is a problem. For issues related to you internal uSD card upgrade lets address that in the other thread. This thread is about Koreader.

That is in "/.kobo/koreader/koreader_kobo.sh".
But that is not a complete solution, because it would only allow koreader to access the books on one device, but what about the other? A ".Books" directory on the other device would remain invisible.

koreader should be recompiled to allow directories starting with "."

In KPV it used to be in a .lua source file so one could change it without recompiling anything. But now everything has changed so much since the last time I looked at it...

So, now we need a way for koreader to see books on two devices WITHOUT letting Nickel see them. Any ideas?

UPDATE: Maybe we can have another icon "koreader-sd" which starts up reader.lua with "/mnt/sd/.Books"? How do we add a launchable entity to this infrastructure?

Koreader's File Manager does access all of the device and both of the uSD cards. There is only one device. It will let you see "mnt/onboard/" as well as "mnt/sd/" and "mnt/user" even. Just keep pressing the "../" selection, to see the rest of the file system. It is set to see "Hidden" directories/folders that have names that start with ".".

Update: at least it was set "show hidden = true" in filechooser.lua, It must have gotten changed back to = false in the nightly build. I just changed it back to "= true," and can see them all now. It's in: \.kobo\koreader\frontend\ui\widget
"Notepad++" comes in really handy for this sort of thing.

I have it start in that directory/folder of my external uSD card as a matter of convenience, you could leave it at "/mnt/onboard/" or leave it with no argument and it should start in your last read file.

Check out Sergey's File Monitor (fmon) program.

Luck;
Ken

I raised an issue in github and they added a toggle to allow seeing "hidden" elements. However, I don't know how to actually enable it, i.e. what is the user interaction in File Manager? Do you touch something?

Yes, I do realize what ".." is for (In the years of working as Linux kernel architect I did write at least one filesystem --- BFS

Are you saying that there is a build available with the toggle you mention? That would be a very fast responce.

The .lua script files are easy to work with and mostly human readable. The free editing tool "Notepad++" includes display templates for many of the scripting languages. It is not that big an effort to make such simple edits to enable a feature you won't need to change, in use of the program. I am a little surprised that they would add a toggle for that.

But it appears that it was added to the File Manager main menu, probably make it into the next nightly build. If you can't wait just make the changes to the script files that Github spells out for you.

I went ahead and made the changes. It works fine.

It is in build 481 and works fine there too.

Luck;
Ken

Hi

These last weeks, this thread has been a bit quiet (holidays?)

Any report about installing Koreader with Kobo Glo 2.8.1 ?

Is frontlight working now?
