But I'll try this month, and get more books to read (will read them myself, not get more books to read maybe).

I've gotten sidetracked. Had another retina hemorrhage last Wednesday, so I can only look at the screen for a few mins before the one working eye gets strained. The blood is clearing quickly this time, and in fact, I didn't even call my retinologist. After 14 surgeries and many smaller hemorrhages, I feel qualified to judge the severity. Hell, I keep telling them that I can run the equipment if the tech wants a break.

I was in the middle of last week's freebie Who Wrote the Book of Love, which is really cute so far. Now I am listening to the audiobook Fledgling by Octavia Butler. It puts me to sleep very quickly.

I have a lot of public domain books with no page number listing, so, a "page to location" conversion is quite helpful.

Rather than add page numbers that don't correspond to print books, which is how page numbers have been added to e-books in the past, we're adding real page numbers that correspond directly to a book's print edition. We've already added real page numbers to tens of thousands of Kindle books, including the top 100 bestselling books in the Kindle Store that have matching print editions and thousands more of the most popular books. Page numbers will also be available on our free "Buy Once, Read Everywhere" Kindle apps in the coming months.

Now the question is, which print edition are they going to use for the page numbers? Paperback, hard cover, large type, illustrated?

If I were to make an assumption, I would say paperback as that is the most commonly purchased. However, for newer books, hard covers usually come out many months before the paperback edition, so if they wanted to have the info ASAP, it would make sense for them to use the hardcover number. Then if they wanted to keep it standard across the board they would have to use all hard cover numbers. Of, course this is again an assumption, and we all know what happens with those.
I can not see them using "specialty" editions like Illustrated or large print.

Talking Action Trumps Everything

Just finished Action Trumps Everything, a book about entrepreneurship and achieving one's dreams, and absolutely loved it.

I'd highly recommend that you check out the book, written by Leonard A. Schlesinger, president of Babson College and past CEO of the Limited brands.

I just finished Maskerade which is a Discworld novel. Didn't care for it all that much. It was slow and well, not all that funny. That makes #9.

Just finished The Silent War, which makes it book number 23 for this year. Seems I'm on a reading roll, so I have to make the best of it while it lasts.

I agree, it's one of Pratchett's weaker ones. I suppose it could be funny if you're a bit of an opera buff, alas, I'm not. Just finished Unseen Academicals, the latest (for now) installment in the Discworld series and enjoyed it a lot.

I'm now in the middle of "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming" and am enjoying it very much, too. It offers a bit of an insight into astronomy (plus lots of other stuff) without overwhelming the layman.

I have just finished The Stand by Stephen King - all 27,000 locations of it... No way I'm going to get even close to 100 books this year... as I have several other very long ones to read....

Oh, yes... I enjoyed it very much, even though I found it hard to follow in certain instances: The length between POVs. I had to go keep on going back to find out who this or that person was...

I have no doubt that I'll be reading this book again. I'm sure I'll get more out of it a second time around.
