Hi Paul,

My father was the driving force behind the planned move to Australia and I'm guessing his main reason was the weather.

The job, trip and a place to stay was all provided for by the australian government.

Apparently a lot of people from Sweden and other countries changed permanent adress around the beginning of the sixties.

To this dayI can't help but wonder, what if ...

Yup, Mange. It was called 'Assisted Passage' and meant to swell the Australian workforce. The Welsh half of my family -- now in the fourth generation -- sailed Down Under on that deal. They're all wonderfully happy, successful and thriving ... but gone now is the quaint Welsh accent. Cheers. Neil
