I stopped by my local Target tonight...no Sonys or Kindles of any kind, and the displays are totally gone. It was sad and a bit disturbing.

My local Target had the Kindle 3 on display, but none for sale. The Sony display is gone.

I noticed that teh 350 and 650 are now listed on Target's web site for pre-order, with a note that says Online only.

My local Target stores still haven't dropped the 300's down to the low, low price. They are $120, which I won't pay for the older model. I was just in today and hit the price scanner.

I'm glad the new models are on the way. Either the old models will finally price drop or they will just disappear altogether.

One person on Fatwallet said they picked up a 300 at Target for $37.50!

My 10 year old son likes Hardy Boys (the Undercover Brothers ) mysteries in ebook format from the library.

Unfortunately, our local library system has dropped ebooks from their acquisitions. We're lucky they haven't closed their doors! The Philly Free library is weak on books for this age group. Plus, my son has no interest in the Hardy Boys series.

I picked up a PRS-300 this week for $37.50 at Target, and the following day got the cover with built-in light for $0.99 at Frys!

Each Target store decides when they'll mark down their clearance stock, so you could have two stores in the same city with different prices on the same day (which was the case for me, my nearest Target was selling their last unit for $75).

If your store still has stock, check back each Monday which is when they mark down electronics clearance items.

The PRS 300 and PRS 600 are still "on sale!" at Best Buy in Canada for $149.99 and $199.99 respectively. So, count your blessings!

I was able to pick up the 300 for $37 to give my Dad as an early birthday present, definitely a great deal.

As someone else said about each store being different. The individual stores have no control over the clearance prices on the readers. The prices are based on inventory levels for each store and the prices are sent down from corporate into that days pricing workload in the computer.

I forgot to check the prices on the readers, but the sad Sony display at my local Borders (Sunnyvale, CA) was clearing out the Leather Case w/ Light for the PRS-300 for $4.95!

I say sad, because the 1st Gen Touch model they have out is stuck in some locked/broken screen, just like last time. It's also sad because they moved the fake display (empty boxes) for Kobos, MicroCruzes, and Libres) next to the sad Sony display, but over at the Information Desk (far away) they actually have working demo units for the Kobo and Libre.

Completely disconnected -- horrible marketing. No wonder they're rumored to be headed for bankruptcy.

Oops, sorry, this is the Target thread, not Borders. :-}
