FYI, I discovered an easy way to get the "dangly thing" back into the slot: With the cover closed, just press on the near the left side of the cover across from the "dangly thing" and then push your finger toward the slot. It will naturally part open allowing you to easily insert the "dangly thing". Till I discovered this trick, I was extremely annoyed everytime I finished reading! Thx, Joe Mac

Heh, I was just plain confused for a minute -- had to read it thrice to figure out what he was talking about -- and the ... 'lower denominator' interpretation hadn't crossed my mind either.

Take an exacto knife or razor blade and trim the tabs on the cover you got (on the COVER not on the Reader. lol). That will let you attach it and rotate it to the proper angle. Go to an office supply store and get some of that sticky foam tape that's sticky on both sides and use a couple pieces of it between the cover and the back of the reader. That's hold the cover in place nicely to keep it from rotating.

Hi,

Hopefully no one would mind me _necroing_ this thread after a year. The pictures and feedbacks are supered and I thought my question would help others when they do their research into this case for their new used Sony Reader PRS-500.

After a year, how are the cases holding up? Function wise and aesthetically? I saw in this thread that Dr. Drib found the suede interior to stain easily. Is that true for others? Perhaps it is only noticeable because the color is red? Whereby a darker tone like black or brown might goes unnoticed as per HarryT's feedback?

Either or, any update would be helpful.

Thanks.

Thank you for the quick response Aprilbeginnings.

I'm still debating where the or not I should buy a M-Edge case or find a genuine leather alternative. This thread shows a very classy alternative taralon has created which I am so interested in.

Choices...

I'm quite satisfied with the cover that came with my 505.

Bubble asked about the Red suede interior staining... I have had my Sony red case for about a year, and yes, the inside looks like crap! Have I tried to clean it? No -- I suppose a suede cleaner would help --

However, I will point out that I am in the habit of folding my case over to the back, so my fingers are resting on the interior side of the front... The simple solution? Wash my hands -- Nah !!!

Hi Bubble, I've got the MEdge Executive Cover and it seems to work fine. One of the features I like is the ease with which you can insert and remove the Reader. I switch over to the padded MEdge case that zips shut and it is easy to move from one to the other.

I use the padded one in the gym and at the beach.

I have the case just below cassidym's -- the M-Edge with the strap -- and it looks almost like the day I got it. I still have the original cover that came with the PRS-500 and it too looks good (not as good, but still good.)
