Today I have more than one library. Partly for performance reasons and partly because it allows me to have slightly different metadata.
My three main libraries: Fiction - Novels, almost only epub Non-fiction - Mix of epub and PDF. Periodicals - Almost only PDF. Inside these libraries I have several virtual libraries for different genres and topics. I don't use calibre to read. Only to organize and send to devices. I then use the functionality of the e-reader software to search and navigate to find what to read. I have a destination folder structure on a NAS. That is what I maintain as the "device" in calibre. And then I sync the e-book storage folders on the reading devices with the folder structure on the NAS, whenever I add or change something. |

Scroll thru---
That is what Tagging is about. Tag with GOOD subjects when adding (and ditch the 47 subject homonyms many Authors load the OPF with) Multiple tags was a holdover from PAPER Card Catalogs (remember those) that needed cross referencing . eg. Calibre can find any tag with Werewolf, no matter what combination it is with. Clean your tags up. Calibre can help For example: I use the Tag mapper to clean up the 42 different ways Science Fiction was coded. Or just use Manage Tags: and fix/remove the obvious as you scroll. ( ![]() |
