I'm no Apple fan. I never owned an Apple product until I bought an iPod a few years ago. But I love my iPad (not as an ereader, though). It would have been difficult to by an Adam instead, since IT DOESN'T EXIST.

7 inches is not too big as a portable ereader - if you check out the device dimensions they are the same size as 6 inch ereaders - you can get them into large jacket pockets. I have a 7 inch android apad that fits perfectly into a kindle carry case. I read a lot of news articles etc on my galaxy and find the contrast not a problem at all - in fact much better than my ereaders in low light. If I were too read for more than a couple of hours in 1 shot then I would prefer ereader inking but most times I only read for 30-60 minutes at a time and the Galaxy interface is better. The screen is fantastic

I don't care whether any product kills another. If there's a better product for my uses, great, I'll bring my money. Until something better comes along, I'm loving my iPad.
I'm spending months overseas and bought a second iPad before I left the U.S., because I find it useful enough that I don't want to go without one even temporarily, should I drop mine and lack access to buy one quickly. When I'm ready to return to the U.S., I can sell the spare if I like, I figure. I've owned zero Macs and have been happy with a string of ThinkPads, so I can hardly be called an Apple fan. I'm a big fan of iPad now, though, despite its shortcomings. I don't expect perfection, especially in a first-generation product. I can always upgrade later, when competitors come up with something better. |

I'm thinking about getting an ipad in addition to my kindle, there's just so many features the ipad has that the kindle does not. However I will still use my kindle for ebooks as it has a more realistic book like feel
