Around two years now for me.Had to send the first one back to WH Smiths after a software mishap (my fault). Got the updated 400Mhz one as a replacement. I had a choice of swapping it for the Sony or getting a new Cybook, but I like the features.

Use it nearly every day, not a single complaint. Especially since the ePub update that included the ability to manage books so much easier. .

Calibre and my Cybook are constant companions.

I also got mine in early 2008, so its an early model, which unfortunately means that the firmware upgrade to make it start quicker doesn't do anything. So it goes. It comes with being an early(ish) adopter.

But otherwise, the only problem is an occasional need to hard reset (a few times a year).

I'm still a happy user, and would probably buy another Bookeen device.

I've got little incentive to go Kindle or Sony (especially as I don't buy DRMed books).

My only real gripe is with the design of the single button and its location (it can be hard on the thumb after a while), but that's common to all readers of its generation, not just the Cybook.

I can't even remember how long. My wife and I both have one. Both have had their screens replaced once as well.

I have mine since 18 months.

Lots of problems due to.... discharged batteries (own stupidness certified) ^^
Charge it up, good to go again

Still love it, wether on my couch/bed or outside along the Danube, while watching nice ladies passing by ^^

My Cybook Gen3 brooken after few months and for the reparation it costs more than to buy a new one like the Kindle which has wifi and a lot of other advantages. For 100$ it is possible to buy a 7" colour touch screen tablet wit Android (wifie, etc) which is far better.
Therefore my experience with Booken ebook readers was completely negative

I broke my gen3's screen too. I didn't blame bookeen for my own stupidity.... Lesson learned, until such point we get plastic substrate ; treat your reader with extreme care. I never put it in my bag's front pocket again.
Even amazon would have asked you to paid for replacement screen.
Bookeen's support is one of best I've dealt with. Along with amazon, and synology.

Why not install 2.1 frmware , convert, and voila ? in the UK, clearly, ePub is way to go.
The hard part is de-drm, but the kindle won't read you mobi drm files, because it don't have the same PID. So you're up to some mess whatever you do.

If you really want to change your reader ,I would get a bookeen, or a sony. But not a kindle.

So... because you cannot find mobi files, you get a reader that can only read mobi files?

It seems silly I know, but the problem is I used to just download all my mobi stuff from the USA, take advantage of the exchange rate diff and

But beacuse of all the crap that has gone on, no longer will a lot of the cheap sites let me download because Iam UK not USA and now all the mobi files are turning into epubs.

The cheapest place to buy books at the moment is the mighty amazon uk monster, especially as a lot of the stuff iam reading is drm locked, I dont like it but both of the other main sites for UK ebooks like waterstones and books on board uk are more expensive.

Iam just a techno limited bookworm, looking for the cheapest way to read in peace

i've had mine since june 2008, and had very few problems. i love it, and read on it regularly - it's light, easy to hold and i've been even happier since i uploaded the firmware that gives folder support.

I've had my Gen3 since July 2008. I also picked up a Kobo this year. I have no problems or complaints with the Gen3, the Kobo was just too cheap to pass up.

I haven't actually laid eyes upon my Gen3 in several months as I loaded it up with treats and loaned it to the teenaged daughter of some friends. Said teenager was about to undergo some serious back surgery and an ereader was ideal during her recovery period. She is now in excellent health and the Gen3 will be back in my hands at the end of the month. This a good thing as my brother-in-law hijacked my sister's Kobo which somehow resulted in my Kobo going to live with my sister.

I suppose I shouldn't complain as I am the person who convinced them all to convert to ereaders in the first place...

I am planning on updating the Gen3 to read epub files because of the Kobo. No more mobi for me! (thank you Calibre).

I've had mine just over two years and I must have read hundreds of books on it. Unfortunately the display failed just last week and, having looked at all the options, will be asking Santa for a Kindle this Christmas.
