For latecomers to this thread - this is the ORIGINAL POST that we're referencing. It has subsequently been edited by the original poster. Make up your own mind whether or not the truth was written then ... or the truth got changed to fit his whims.

- - - - -

Just ordered a K3 for my friend's wife
So, I've known this friend since 7th grade, that'd be 21 years.

He somehow lucked out and married the second best woman in the world. She is beautiful, patient, classy, smart, and gracious. My friend just finished his PhD.

She loves reading and used to post book reviews on livejournal. I've been asking her for a couple years if she is going to get an eBook reader. She kept saying yes. I cornered her and chatted her up on facebook a few days ago. She admitted she was looking for a while, but can't afford one at the moment. Probably school loans. She turns 40 next month.

My friend and I normally don't exchange gifts, and my wife doesn't think it is appropriate to give her a big fat gift like this out of the blue; said I couldn't do it. But I figure 40 is a biggy for women and it just broke my heart when she said they couldn't afford it right now. So I bought it out of my play money instead of our house account, from which we usually pay for gifts. I feel really good about it. I only hope several of her other friends don't have the same idea, and leave her deciding whose she has to return...

If she reads this and I've ruined the surprise, oh well. I just can't hold it in any more.

I don't really see a problem....I have the same play money system as he does (kind of, my wife and I have separate accounts, and play money funds), so when I read that, saying No, then using play money, to ME, means no with the bills fund.

If you aren't on that system, I can see where confusion may come in.

From the original post ...

" ... my wife doesn't think it is appropriate to give her a big fat gift like this out of the blue; said I couldn't do it."

Period.

I respect my wife and our marriage enough to abide by our decisions.

That's my bottom line. I will stop posting in this thread - unless anyone else demeans the vows made during the marriage ceremony, or otherwise demeans women in general.

To you....that means end of story....to me...it means from the house fund based on the next sentence. Which states that he took it from his "play money", which you left out of your post conveniently.

It's all semantics and what's read into it...you are saying it's fact, and by your rules, and obviously your marriage is so perfect that we should live by your rules, then that's what you take it to mean.

To my rules, and because I understand the way of living with split funds, I see a completely different meaning in it, and really who are you to say what's right and wrong? You don't even have the ability to look at it from different perspectives.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was pretty amused by the way our resident would-be marriage counselor starts a sentence with "Dude" and finishes it with something intended to sound like textbook psychology.

Client: The thing is, no one asked for marriage counseling, but you're pushing your version of it anyway. Therefore, you are a troll.

Whoops, I fell for it again. I'll post this image to remind myself better for next time.

Through my exhaustive search to confirm that Clint has indeed been public on the internet for a long time, I did uncover this one image of him:

Threads like this are why I read this forum! WHY would you buy an EREADER for a woman you find THE SECOND BEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD behind your wife's back? Why not just say "I am going to purchase the ereader for my friend out of my own account." She said it wasn't ok for you to do it out of the house account. Fine, but that wasn't an invitation to go do it secretly.

Congratulations, I'm sure a Kindle 3 is a good invitation to this woman to start a racy affair!

EDIT: And calling this guy out on his almost-philandering, and then calling him a liar when he denies it! BEAUTIFUL! Why did I not find this forum before!

No need at all, but thanks for the PM
