I read on a Sony now and use page numbers a lot, so I can see that being the one function I will really miss. So Page Numbers for me.

ePub support.
But then that would render my PRS-300 pretty useless except as a backup or smaller device. I like to think that it still has some features which are missing on the kindle which makes me feel less guilty about buying another reader! lol |

I'd like the device to remember the way I read each type of document. I read PDF's in landscape and others in portrait mode but I find it annoying having to alter the format each time.

Ability to organize my ebooks. I don't care if they call it folders/directories or bookshelves or bins or whatever. The 'collections' work, sorta but without a way of sorting and sub collections they are hamstrung and not all that valuable. I'd especially like to see advantage taken of the 3G to help categorize ebooks since the meta data in many is the sh*tz.
![]() ![]() I'd pay for a really good organizing app for sure. |

I'm not a fan of the way Sony does page numbers. It changes depending on your font size at the moment. That's a bit imprecise for me though it is more intuitive coming from paper books. The location system in Mobipocket is precise but cumbersome. Personally, I'd like to see chapter + paragraph notations. It's consistent, granular enough, and you can communicate it to anyone with the book regardless of format. Hardcover, paperback, ebook, doesn't matter.

Improved menu/metadata display.
I'd like long titles to wrap so that I don't keep getting Code:
My book here #X in a series with the very long ti..... AUTHOR NAME My book here #Y in a series with the very long ti..... AUTHOR NAME Code:
SERIES TITLE AUTHOR NAME Work Other Work More Work Bride of Work Son of Work Third-Cousin Once-Removed of Work It should be an enhanced version of what you get when you right-flick on a title, and show not only the cover and author/title, but also use the metadata fields in the Mobi file to show publisher, description, series (via --prefix-title such as Mobi2Mobi uses), language, etc. without having to go to the Kindle online store for that info, and be usable even for those books you didn't buy from Amazon. Furthermore, there should be user-editable fields, stored in the mbp or tan/pdr files, for which one could enter/edit the metadata displayed on one's personal copy, as well as add categorization tags (distinct from Collections, and clicking on one would bring up a list of similarly tagged books), personal notes like "Couldn't finish after three tries. Do not even attempt to re-read again." or "Stories in this anthology read so far: X, Y, Z." that would display in the pop-up without even having to open the book to check. Also, a little superscript "read" that could be applied to finished books that would appear like the little "sample" or "pdf" right next to the title in the menu listings would be nice, instead of having to rely on checking for a full array of those bolded dots underneath. |

You know those "boss buttons" that some games and websites have, where you press a key and the gambling website you're looking at instantly changes to a mock-up of a spreadsheet application or something else serious? Well, wWhat I want is for the Kindle to show a mock-up of a gambling website or something else degenerate or lame, so when I detect looking over my shoulder, I can switch to it so they won't interrogate me about what I'm reading. Also, if a cool kid walks by, I can switch it so they won't see that I'm reading Star Wars fanfic.
Also, PDF-native highlighting and annotation. Yes, "highlighting and annotation" in PDFs can done in K3, but I'm still worried the implementation of the feature will be lacking. |

Kindle needs a better way to organize large book collections. Folders, collections and tags--all three please.
