I WISH my clone had told me these things.

Damn you clone. Damn you. My baked potatoes were always hard.
FWIW I have good luck with the microwave. Try microwaving the potato for a few minutes. 10 minutes will cook one from scratch--probably about four minutes would do for a partially baked one.

Some people don't like the texture of microwaved baked potatoes, so maybe it would work better to do the microwaving first, then bake. If you realize the necessity that far in advance, of course.

Or bake small potatoes - quicker and just as nice. Baked potatoes don't have to be enormous...

I'm reading a book that is very surprising. "The Book of Adam: Autobiography of the First Human Clone". It is hard scifi wrapped in a very human story. It is one of the discount books that Karen (Koland) does such a great job with in the "Kindle Freebies" thread. I got free at iBooks just because I prefer the reading app. It's probably the same everywhere else as well.

In the book, clone "parents" are cloned and raised by their own children when the die. A recurring joke throughout the book is the song "I'm My Own Grandpaw". This is a really good book.

The clone "parents" leave behind letters, journals, and holos of themselves to be given to the clone at each birthday, from just a song and picture at age 1 to more and more mature birthday messages as the clone grows up. So I got to wondering: What would I want to tell a future me about myself?

I know that future Little DixieGal would want to see my travel pics. I would want her to know what a terrific woman my mother was, and that she taught me to think for myself. I would tell her to watch her weight and take better care of herself than I did. And that I hope she finds a man as wonderful as Tim to love.

What would you tell a future you about yourself?
There's only one message I'd consider worth passing along to my 'future self' clone. "Go Forth And Multiply!!!"

One day you're going to meet a brown-haired blue-eyed girl with a sexy, throaty voice who'll tell you her car's got a flat tire and it's right around the corner. She seems helpless and that makes her all the more seductive, and so you don't hesitate to agree to help her. Finding the car, it's just as she describes it. While you're digging through her trunk for the spare and the tools, she starts asking you about what you're doing in that part of town. She asks you about your life and tells you you're a great person for helping a complete stranger. Every little joke you make draws her closer to you, until you twist the wrench that last time and she leaves you standing there alone in the dust and red glow of her break lights.

No matter what you do, avoid this scenario at all costs!

That is, in my book, *STILL* going forth and multiplying. (But it shows a remarkable degree of 'thinking outside the box'. )
